With tips from iDB, you can take your Home Screen to the next level. Whether you love animals, games, or characters, and want to change widgets, icons, or wallpaper, here are great ways to customize your iPhone Home Screen.
Tips to customize your iPhone Home ScreenFind and add Apple widgets
Widgets are handy tools that you can put most anywhere on your Home Screen. They come in different sizes, show various details, and can give you terrific overviews of things like your Calendar, Mail, Weather, or Notes.
Check out our walk-through for how to find, add, and remove widgets on your iPhone Home Screen.
Use third-party widgets
Along with widgets for Apple apps, you can use widgets for third-party apps. For tools like Spark Mail for email, Pedometer ++ for step tracking, and Unwind for relaxation, all it takes is a glance at your screen.
Not all apps on the App Store offer widgets and those that may not have them now, might implement them later. So be sure to look at your favorite apps to see if they provide widgets.
Or even better, simply review our list of the best apps with widgets for your Home Screen for an excellent start.
Create custom widgets
Maybe the widgets for Apple and third-party apps still aren’t enough for you. Good news, you can create your own widgets!
Using one of the apps we’ve highlighted in our how to create custom widgets article, you can create the exact widgets you want. From those that show the date, time, or weather to others that display photos, quotes, and your agenda, custom widgets let you pick the data and appearance.
Make a widget with your favorite color as the background or accent, select the style of text that fits your taste, and you’re on your way to great customizations for your Home Screen.
Change your app icons
So once you have the widgets you want to use, what else can you do to spruce up your Home Screen? You can not only create your own widgets, but custom app icons too! With the Shortcuts app and the images you want to use, you can give your iPhone a theme you love.
The ability to create custom app icons has been around longer than iOS 14, but didn’t get the love it deserved until iOS 14 was released. Why? Probably because you can now create a unique and distinctive Home Screen with more tools than ever before!
We have a complete tutorial that shows you how to make custom app icons, but that’s not all.
Where to get app icons

Where to get inspiration
If you love the idea of creating custom widgets but just aren’t sure what theme you want to go with, get some inspiration! We’ve shared a whole list of iOS 14 Home Screens to do just that. You’ll see themes like those mentioned above and even more.

Create blank icons
You may not realize it, but you can create blank spaces on your Home Screen using custom icons too to make them match your wallpaper.
Then you can move those icons anywhere you want on your screen to increase the spacing around and between your app icons. This is a great way to truly get the exact look you want for your iPhone Home Screen.
Head over to our tutorial to create blank icons to get started.
Don’t forget the wallpaper
Whether you decide to use widgets and custom app icons, a cool theme, or just a mixture of everything, you’ll probably also want a new Home Screen background, right?
While many of the icon packs you’ll find at places like Etsy or by specific artists do include wallpaper, not all do and not all may have the one you want.

How To Add Widgets To Your Iphone Home Screen
Since the iPhone was first released to the world in 2007, its home screen has seen few changes. Sure, there have been redesigned icons and new apps along the way. However, all of that changes with the release of iOS 14, as the icon-only grid is no more. With iOS 14, widgets are reborn in a more dynamic and much more useful way. The best part is that they can be added anywhere on your home screen and in three different sizes. Here’s how to get started with widgets on your iPhone.
How to Add WidgetsIn just a short amount of time, widgets have already proven incredibly useful for iOS 14 users. Let’s start with the basics of adding widgets to your iPhone screen:
1. Touch and hold an empty area on your home screen until your apps start jiggling.
2. When you see the “+” sign in the upper-left corner appear, press on it to bring up a menu of existing widgets already installed on your phone.
3. Tap on the widget you want to add. When you select the widget, you can scroll right to see all of the available sizes. The larger the widget, the more info it shows.
4. When you make your choice in size, tap on “Add Widget” at the bottom of the screen.
5. The widget will be added to your home screen. You now have an opportunity to move the widget around on your primary home screen or another page of apps.
How to Create a Widget StackAlong with individual widgets, iOS 14 also allows you to create a “widget stack” on your home screen. These are exactly what they sound like with a group of scrollable widgets stacked one on top of another.
To create a widget stack:
1. Follow the steps above to create at least two widgets on your home screen. You can stack as many as ten widgets in total.
2. Long press the widget until you can move it around the screen, then place it on top of another widget. Note that in order for this to work properly, widgets must be the same size and shape to stack.
3. Once stacked, swipe up and down on the available widgets to see them all.
How to Create a Smart Stack.Similar to widget stacks, Apple has included a feature called “Smart Stacks” that are automatically chosen based on your location, apps you frequently use or time of day. iOS 14 already comes with a pre-built Smart Stack so your work will look very similar to that when finished.
To create a smart stack:
1. Touch any area of your home screen until the apps jiggle and then hit the “+” button in the upper right corner.
2. Scroll down until you see the widget labeled “Smart Stack”.
4. After the smart stack is added to your home screen, you can re-order or remove apps you do not want. Just long press on the stack anywhere and select “Edit Stack”. You can also toggle “Smart Rotate” on to have the app automatically adjust according to time of day or when the iPhone believes you will want to see a specific app.
How to Remove WidgetsRemoving widgets could not be any easier. Enter jiggle mode by keeping your finger on the widget or stack you want to remove, then tap on “Remove Widget.” It’s that simple. If you want to re-add the widget or delete it accidentally, just follow the steps above.
How to Add “Today View” Widgets“Today View” widgets have been around since iOS 10, and looking back, was the first glimpse at what iOS 14 would bring to the table. To locate Today View, swipe left on your lock screen where you will see several widgets installed by default. To personalize this space:
1. Scroll to the bottom of your Today View screen and tap edit. If the apps start jiggling, you are ready for the next step.
2. Start adding widgets by pressing the “+” button in the upper-left corner.
3. Scroll down to select a widget and then choose from any of the three default sizes. Tap “Add Widget,” and it will be added to the screen.
4. To remove or re-add previous widgets to the lock screen, scroll down while the apps are jiggling. The last set of widgets should be in a dark gray box labeled “customize,” Tap on it.
What You Can Do with WidgetsWidgets on iOS 14 are still in their infancy, but there is no question that app developers are finding new ways to personalize them every day. Apps like Widgeridoo, WidgetWizard and Widgetsmith will help create personalized widgets that can include any number of informational pieces including calendars, steps, time of day, weather and more. There are widgets for weather, email, news, Reddit sports and so much more.
There is no question that with iOS 14, the home screen is exciting again. Do also check out some of the useful widgets for the control center or the best widgets you can add to your homescreen.

6 Tips To Customize Highend WordPress Theme – Webnots
Highend is one of the popular WordPress themes sold more than 48K customers in Mojo marketplace. Like many other premium themes, customizing Highend theme as per your need is a tedious task. If you have purchased the theme recently, here are 6 simple tips to customize Highend WordPress theme.
Why to Customize Highend Theme? 1. Show Social Sharing Icons on MobileThe theme offers inbuilt social sharing option with small sharing widget. The problem is the social sharing widget will not be visible on mobile devices.
.share-holder{display: block !important;} 2. Disable Unused Modules – Cleanup Admin SidebarHighend comes with lot of custom post types like gallery, portfolio, team members, FAQ, pricing tables, testimonials and clients. Each module will create a menu item with sub menu items in your WordPress admin panel. We are sure, you will not use all these custom post types on a single site. Just go to the theme options and switch on “Enable/Disable Highend Modules” option. Then disable the modules you are not using on your site. This will help to remove the unnecessary menu items and cleanup your admin panel.
Disabling Highend Custom Post Type Modules
Note: If you are using Yoast SEO, ensure to enable or disable the custom post types and categories in the XML Sitemap.
3. Show Last Updated Post Date Instead of Published Date
The theme by default shows the published data as a metadata under blog post title. When you are continuously updating your post content, it makes more sense to display last updated date instead of original published date.
4. Use Excerpt in Portfolio to Showcase on ArchivesThe theme uses the content entered in the “Excerpt” metadata box to show on the “Portfolio” archives. Therefore, we recommend using excerpt especially on portfolio pages so that the archive page will look more attractive.

5. Improve Page Speed with WooCommerce and Other ScriptsHighend comes with integrated shop using the customized WooCommerce plugin. This plugin will slowdown your page due to long Ajax call for collecting cart items. You can disable the Ajax call by de-enqueuing the functions in “functions.php” file. Read this article to improve your page speed with WooCommerce.
Highend theme will load lots of jQuery scripts and there is no option to combine or defer the scripts to improve page loading. With the heavyweight plugins like WooCommerce, Slider Revolution and Visual Composer, your site will take long time to load.
Login to your FTP account and navigate to “/wp-content/themes/HighendWP/includes/core/” folder and locate “class-highend-enqueue-scripts.php” file. Here you can dequeue all the scripts not required for your site. For example, if you don’t use Google maps on your site then just dequeue relevant scripts.
Dequeue Unnecessary Scripts in Highend WordPress Theme
After dequeuing the scripts check your site is loading properly and check the page speed in Google PageSpeed to see the render blocking issues are improved.
6. Disable Featured Image Showing on Blog PostDisable Featured Image on Content
This will only disable showing the featured image on the post content area below the title. You should still be able to upload featured image on blog posts and share it on social networks.
How To Show Battery Percentage On Your Iphone Home Screen
iOS 14 has opened up a new world of customizations for iPhone and iPad users offering users the ability to color icons, customize icons, create widgets, and make cool home screens with ease. Among these customizable options is being greeted with the battery percentage of your iPhone neatly on your home screen.
In this post, we’ll help you figure out how you can make your iPhone home screen show the battery percentage.
Note: Before you proceed through this guide, make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS – iOS 14.
How to show your iPhone’s battery percentage on the home screen
To be able to show your iPhone’s battery percentage on the home screen, first unlock your iPhone and then tap and hold on an empty space on the home screen till you go into jiggle mode. Jiggle mode is when the apps and widgets on your home screen begin to jiggle, indicating that you can start to customize. When Jiggle mode is enabled, tap on the Plus icon at the top right (or left) corner of your iPhone home screen.
Your next step is to find and apply the widget that shows you your iPhone’s battery percentage. To do this, scroll down the list of preset widgets that’s available on your iPhone and select the ‘Batteries’ option from the list.
In the next screen, you will need to select the widget size. You can select a size from – Small, Medium, and Large. If you just want to view the battery stats of just your iPhone, then we suggest picking the Small size to make the most room for all other apps and widgets on your home screen. Once you have made up your mind on the widget size, tap on the ‘Add Widget’ button at the bottom.
Your battery widget will now be added to your iPhone home screen. Tap on anywhere else on the home screen to exit jiggle mode and make your changes permanent.
How to show the battery percentage of your iPhone and connected devices
If you often connect Bluetooth devices like wireless earphones, speakers, and Apple Watch, you can also show the battery percentage of all these devices on your iPhone home screen. Before you move to create a battery widget, make sure you have connected to all the Bluetooth devices you generally connect to, so that you can make up your mind on which widget to choose.
To show the battery percentage of your iPhone and connected devices, tap and hold on an empty space on the home screen until you go into jiggle mode. Here, tap on the Plus icon at the top right (or left) corner to access the widgets available to you.
Inside the Widgets list, scroll down and tap on the ‘Batteries’ option from the list.
Now you need to select the size of your battery widget. Unlike earlier, we’d suggest you go for either the medium or large option so that the widget box has more room to show you the details of all your connected devices and their battery percentage.
The medium-sized battery widget has four slots for showing battery percentage with icons for each one of your devices. On the other hand, the large-sized battery widget shows you the entire names of connected devices and their battery percentage. We’ll recommend the Large option if you are connected to more than 3 devices at once or would want to see the name of the devices you are connected to at all times.
Once you have selected the appropriate size of the widget, tap on the ‘Add Widget’ button at the bottom.
You will now return to the iOS home screen. To stop the icons and widgets from shaking, tap any blank space on the screen to set your home screen with your newly created battery widget.
Should you download third-party widgets for showing battery percentage?
NO, at least for now. While there are a bunch of widget apps that claim to show the battery percentage on your iOS home screen, for some reason, the apps we tried failed to do exactly that consistently. We tried using Battery Widget & Usage Monitor and Usage: Activity & Data Widget and although the widgets at disposal look quite good on your home screen, they fail to update themselves as your phone’s battery status changed.
What we’re trying to say is, in contrast to Apple’s own Batteries widget, widgets from both of these apps don’t appear to update to the current status of your battery but instead show the battery status of your phone when you last opened the widget app.
The reason for both of these apps not showing real-time battery stats of your iPhone could have something to do with iOS’ unwillingness to share background battery details with third-party apps. Thus, at least for now, it doesn’t make sense to install a third-party widget app for the sole purpose of showing the battery percentage.
What do you have to say about the battery widget on iOS 14? Has it been helpful are do you think Apple should make more of them?

What Else Is New in Android 14?First up, we have AI-generated wallpapers: Android 14 is set to give users the power to create their own wallpapers using Google’s text-to-image diffusion model. This cool feature is all about creating unique and personalized wallpapers that perfectly match the users’ interests.
The next big thing is improved location privacy. Android 14 is taking a step forward in making it easier for users to control how apps access their location data. It’s a transparency move – users will be able to see exactly which apps are using their location data and can revoke access for any app they feel uncomfortable with.
Moving on to the new notification features, Android 14 is introducing a host of new elements in this area. You’ll find options to turn on camera flashes and screen flashes for incoming notifications. Plus, you’ll be able to see which apps use your location data for notifications and create custom notification sounds.
After debuting at Google I/O 2023, Health Connect is now being built into Android 14. The goal of Health Connect is to sync your health and fitness metrics between different apps, allowing you to see all of your stats from an app of your choosing, as opposed to needing to use several different apps.
Last but not least, developers have something to look forward to as well. Android 14 will roll out a variety of new features for developers, including fresh APIs to improve their apps, and new tools to aid in debugging.
That’s just a snapshot of what’s expected to come with Android 14. Google is still working on the new version, so it’s possible that we’ll see even more features added before the final release.
When is Android 14 Being Released?Google has not yet announced an official release date for Android 14. However, based on the release schedule for previous Android versions, we can expect Android 14 to be released in August 2023. Google released the first Android 14 developer preview in February, followed by a second developer preview in March. The first public beta of the new version was then released in April, followed by a second public beta in May shortly after the Google I/O 2023 Keynote concluded.
Of course, it’s important to remember that while Google does provide an outline and has largely followed a schedule in recent years, there’s a chance that the final version is slightly delayed. A new version of Android might face delays due to several reasons. The development process for a new operating system is intricate and complex, involving a multitude of elements such as designing new features, improving existing ones, fixing bugs, and ensuring optimal performance across a vast array of devices. Unforeseen technical challenges can often arise during this process, requiring additional time to resolve.
