Vision Pro could be the AR/VR industry’s iPhone-like moment, and Apple hopes the underlying xrOS operating system will become its next major software platform.
The first version of the Vision Pro includes these key features:
Front display: Called EyeSight, this is a front-facing screen that projects your eyes as captured by the internal cameras to others around you. A blurred mode alerts others you’re deeply immersed in AR.
Mindfulness session: Create a private sense of calm.
Environments: These are like screen savers for the AR background. You can use these sceneries to calm down, focus, inspire and more.
Bluetooth accessories: Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard are supported for those who want to enter text or navigate the user interface using the old century method.
FaceTime: You can conduct group calls on FaceTime in AR, and participants’ video windows are correctly sized relative to one another.
Photos: Your environment dims around you, bringing focus to your colorful photos and videos. Panoramas expand and wrap around you in AR.
Camera: This is your first 3D camera. letting you feel like you’re part of the action. You just press a button to capture a spatial image or video.
Spatial cinema: You can adjust the screen to the perfect size, and Vision Pro automatically dims the surroundings. You can watch movies with spatial audio, use the Environments feature to dial in soothing environments to enjoy movies in. Vision Pro can even render 3D movies like in movie theaters.
Games: More than 100 Apple Arcade games will be playable on Vision Pro from day one, with full controller support.
Use as Mac display: Just look at your Mac and then place its screen anywhere you want in AR, giving you a full 4K display.
Disney: Disney CEO Big Iger said on stage that it will provide content optimized for Vision Pro.
Design: Vision Pro uses a single piece laminated glass, polished to not interfere with the external cameras.There’s a button dedicated to capturing spatial images, and a Digital Crown-like dial. Soft textile parts for the back of the product provide comfort, and you can customize the device fully to fit the shape of your head. The headband is 3d-knitted as a single piece, providing fine cushioning. Those who wear glasses can buy Zeiss optics to adjust. Video: Vision Pro uses two micro-OLED displays at 4K resolution each, providing 23 million pixels across two panels (more pixels than 4K per each eye). A 3-element lens designed bay Apple provides experiences “not possible on any device,” including HDR support and sharp text.
Audio: Integrated dual-driver speakers render spatial audio like you’ve never heard before. Using a technique calling audio raytracing, Vision Pro adjusts your soundscape to objects in your room.
Chips: Vision Pro uses Apple silicon based on the Mac’s M2 chip, which runs in parallel with the new Apple R1 chip that process input from onboard sensors and cameras that Apple says eliminates lag.
visionOS: Vision Pro runs a new operating system, called visionOS. It supports foveated rendering, a multi-app 3D engine, real-time subsystems and more.

Honor 70 Global Release Date, Price And Specs
Honor revealed the Honor 70 phones in China in May 2023, with three models on sale in that market – though it wasn’t clear which if any would make their way to an international launch.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Honor 70, 70 Pro, and 70 Pro+.
When will the Honor 70 be released worldwide?The Honor 70 series was unveiled on 30 May, and the phones went on sale in China from 7 June.
On 25 August 2023, Honor held a London event where we found out the regular Honor 70 is coming to the UK, but not the 70 Pro or 70 Pro+.
It goes up for pre-order on 26 August, and on full sale in the UK on 2 September.
How much does the Honor 70 cost?Here is the full pricing for the phones in China, but we can use that to get a rough sense of how they might be priced if they make it overseas:
Honor 70: ¥2,699 (around £320/€375/$405/₹31,500)
Honor 70 Pro: ¥3,699 (around £440/€515/$555/₹43,000)
Honor 70 Pro+: ¥4,299 (around £510/€600/$645/₹50,000)
The prices for the 70 and 70 Pro are exactly the same as their corresponding Honor 60 models, so at least the company has resisted the urge to raise prices.
Comparatively, in the UK and Europe here’s how the Honor 70 will shape up:

Even at the lowest price, that’s a considerable mark up from the roughly £320 conversion from what it sells for in China – but this is not unusual in smartphone regional pricing trends.
The 128GB model will be available in the UK from Honor, Argos, Currys, Amazon, and Very, while the 256GB model will only sell via Vodafone and Three.
What are the Honor 70 specs?With three phones in the series, let’s break them down in turn.
Honor 70The Honor 70 is obviously the most basic phone in the set, but it still seems impressive enough.
This is the slimmest and lightest of the phones, weighing just 178g and measuring 7.91mm thick. That’s despite a sizeable 6.67in 120Hz OLED display with curved edges.
The 70 is powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, which includes 5G support. It comes paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. There’s a 4800mAh battery that charges at up to 66W, and the phone runs on Android 12 with Honor’s own Magic UI 6.1.
As for photography, there’s a triple rear camera led by the 54Mp Sony IMX800 sensor in the main lens, along with a 50Mp ultrawide lens. There’s no telephoto, with only a 2Mp depth sensor for the third lens. On the front, you’ll find a 32Mp selfie camera.

Honor 70 ProAs you’d expect, the 70 Pro improves on the regular 70 in a few key ways. It’s bigger for one, thanks to a larger 6.78in display, which is now quad-curved – meaning it curves a little at the top and bottom too.
The chipset has changed to the MediaTek Dimensity 8000, and while the battery capacity is a little lower at 4500mAh, charging jumps up to 100W speeds.
The camera has changed too. While the main and ultrawide sensors are unchanged, the depth sensor is replaced with an 8Mp, 3x zoom telephoto lens with OIS. The selfie camera also enjoys a resolution bump to 50Mp.

Honor 70 Pro+The 70 Pro+ is exactly the same as the Pro, with two exceptions.
The first is an upgrade: the chip here is the faster MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
The second is a downgrade: for some reason there’s no 512GB storage option here, so the phone instead caps at 256GB.

When does the new iPad come out?Apple unveiled the updated 10.2in iPad at an Apple event on 14 September 2023, alongside a new iPad Mini and the iPhone 13.

How much does the 10.2in iPad cost?Pricing has been reasonably consistent for the budget iPad, and this year is no exception, with prices starting from £319/$329 – the exact same price as the 2023 model in the US, with a slight £10 reduction in the UK. If you want a 4G LTE model, they start from £439/$459.
You get double the starting storage for those prices though, so the new model is arguably better value.

What are the 2023 iPad’s new features?Apple hasn’t changed much in the new iPad, which is a pretty iterative upgrade on the previous model.
The first thing to know is that the size and design are entirely unchanged – you’re still getting a 10.2in display, the same size body, the same Lightning charging port, and the same Touch ID home button. It’s available in Space Grey and Silver.
Using the same design means that the new iPad remains compatible with all of the existing accessories, including Apple’s official iPad smart keyboard and the first-generation Apple Pencil.
Many of the tablet’s internals are the same too, but there are four major changes.
The first is the chipset, which has been upgraded to the A13 Bionic – the same chip found in the iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE (2023). That brings a 20% bump in performance across the board, and powers some of the new iPadOS 15 features coming to the tablet.
Storage is the second big hardware change. As already mentioned, you now get double the base storage – 64GB – though if that’s not enough it’s a pretty big jump up to 256GB.
The third update is to the front-facing camera, which is now a 12Mp ultra-wide lens. More importantly, this camera now supports Centre Stage, Apple’s name for its software that automatically frames you in the centre of your camera, panning to follow you round the room and even zooming back out if new people enter the room.
The final hardware tweak is to the display. Yes, I already said the display is the same – and that’s still true. But the addition of a new light sensor means it now supports True Tone, so will dynamically alter the brightness and tone of the screen so that colours always look correct in any lighting.

Xiaomi Mi 6X: Rumors, Specs, Release Date And More
Xiaomi is one of the leaders in the premium budget smartphone market in its home country. The Xiaomi Mi 6, for instance, is a steal at about $400, but since the company has strong presence mostly in 2nd and 3rd world countries, some still find this price tag a little high. Enter Xiaomi Mi 6X.
Xiaomi Mi 6X, as you would expect, is a slimmed-down variant of the flagship Mi 6 and a successor to the Mi 5X, which has so far been a hit, especially the Android One version, Mi A1. At the moment, Xiaomi has not confirmed that it will be unveiling the Mi 6X, but leaks and rumors suggest that an official announcement is near.
Without further ado, here’s everything we know about the phone’s specs, features, release date and more.

There have been plenty of rumors and leaks giving us an idea of what to expect when the Xiaomi Mi 6X comes out. As it is, the Mi 6X will feature a metallic unibody, just like its predecessor, which also means a non-removable battery.
Given Xiaomi’s nickname, the Apple of China, it’s no surprise that the leaked images of the phone’s back panel and case point to an iPhone X-like dual-camera setup. However, the Mi 6X will get a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The latest trend suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 6X will rock an 18:9 display, perhaps a 5.7-inch panel with a full HD+ resolution. On the inside, the Mi 6X has been rumored to come with an in-house Surge S2 processor rather than a Snapdragon chipset like the case of the Mi 5X.
The processor will then be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card of 128GB. In terms of software, the Mi 6X will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Xiaomi Mi 6 Oreo has reached the beta stage, BTW.
Whether the Chinese OEM will also offer an Android One version in the shape of Xiaomi Mi A2 is still unknown, but even if it happens, it’s likely to feature a Snapdragon processor in a bid to ease acceptance in the West.
Similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 6X will stick to a USB-C port and 3.5mm audio jack, which is a great combination for most people.
MWC 2023 launch expected
Similar pricing to the Mi 5X (about $250-$300)
Most companies have given us the impression that smartphones should be succeeded by new ones after a year in the market. Granted, the Xiaomi Mi 6X should be unveiled in September 2023, but given the flurry of leaks and rumors, it’s possible that the MWC 2023 could be the event the company will use to unveil the phone.
It’s worth noting that the Mi 5X is the understudy to the Mi 5, a phone that was unveiled at the MWC 2023 event. If anything, it came out more than a year later, but things are about to change for the Mi 6X, according to industry insiders.
The Mi 5X has a price tag of $230. We don’t expect anything different for the Mi 6X, unless Xiaomi has other ideas. Anything between $250-300 looks like it.
Xiaomi Mi Band 7 Global Release Date, Price & Specs
Highlights include a larger display than its predecessors, improved blood oxygen tracking and up to 15-day battery life, but there’s more to this lightweight tracker worth exploring. For the first time ever it’s also been joined by a bigger Band 7 Pro sibling, which has now been launched outside China.
Here we round up all the details on the Mi Band 7, from price to availability, features and more.
When does the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 launch worldwide?The Mi Band 7 was introduced on 24 May, alongside the Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro, and went on sale in China on 31 May.
The Band 7 was given a European launch on 21 June, with sales launching a day later. We’re still waiting for details on the band’s launch in India though.
Just a few days later, the Band 7 Pro launched in China alongside the Xiaomi 12S phones. It’s the first time we’ve seen a Pro version of Xiaomi’s budget fitness tracker, so there was plenty of speculation as to whether it’d ever be released outside China.
News of a global release eventually arrived, but not until 4 October at an event to launch Xiaomi 12T handsets – a full three months later. It’s not yet clear when the device will go on sale, though.
It’s also worth noting that the global launch of the regular Band 7 doesn’t include the separate NFC version of the tracker. That’s no big surprise, as in the case of Mi Band 6 last year Xiaomi waited a few extra months to launch the NFC version, which came in September 2023 in partnership with Mastercard. We should probably expect similar this time around.
How much does the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 cost?Pricing has always been aggressive on the Mi Smart Band/Mi Band range, with Xiaomi keeping costs low for customers, but costs are slowly creeping up.
The Mi Band 7 officially costs £54.99/€59.99 (around $65) from the Mi Store. We’re still waiting to find out what it will cost in India. It does cost more than previous models though, with the Band 6 costing just £40/€45/₹3,499 last year.
To reflect the changed design and extra features on offer, the Band 7 Pro is more expensive – £84.99. But an early bird offer from 4-6 October means it’s available for £74.99 instead.
The only other pricing we have is China, where ¥399 translates to around $60/€60. That’s almost double the regular Band 7, which is ¥239 in the country.
What features does the Xiaomi Mi Band 7 offer?Let’s discuss the two bands separately, starting with the regular model.
Xiaomi Band 7The most obvious change in the move to the Mi Band 7 is unquestionably the tracker’s new larger display.
While it maintains the signature pill shape of its predecessor, it’s now approximately 25% larger (according to Xiaomi), measuring in at 1.62in; with a higher resolution (490×192) to ensure it’s just as sharp as before (326ppi).
The added screen real estate afforded to Xiaomi by this larger full-colour always-on AMOLED panel has allowed for a reworked UI that can serve up more information at a glance, while some of the 100+ watch faces include animated elements that – thanks to a new chipset – should look smoother.
The Mi Band 7 offers continuous heart rate and (improved) blood oxygen tracking, as well as support for breathing exercises, stress evaluation and female cycle tracking.
Expanding on the 120 supported sport modes, the 7 can also offer insights on VO2 Max, training load, recovery time, training effect. There are four ‘professional’ sport modes (as part of that 120), with automatic workout detection for some activities.
Outside of the Band 7’s activity tracking chops, the wearable also has inbuilt tools like a flashlight, remote camera and music controls (on compatible phones), timers (including the Pomodoro timer), weather, alarms and more.
The NFC model, which for now remains a Chinese exclusive, supports Alipay and WeChat Pay, however, the added functionality sucks a day from that promised 15-day battery life. The Xiao AI assistant also features, granting smart home control with compatible IoT devices.

Xiaomi Band 7 ProThe Band 7 Pro sits halfway between a fitness tracker and a proper smartwatch, with a 1.64in display that’s much wider than the regular Band 7’s.

The AMOLED display has 326ppi “retina level” pixel density, and the extra surface area offers more room to display health data and notifications. The resolution is 280 x 456, compared to 192 x 490 on the regular Band 7. The display also includes an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment.
There’s also an Always On Display option, as with the regular model, and support for 180+ new watch faces, plus a range of colourful wrist bands.
As for tracking, there’s all-day heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, plus sleep tracking. GPS is included by default too.
Exercise tracking includes 117 exercise modes, and with 5ATM water-resistance it’ll work in the pool too.

The bigger design also allows for a larger 235mAh battery, with 12 days of regular usage and six days for heavy users. Charging is faster too, with a full top-up taking just one hour.

Google Pixel 4 And Pixel 4 Xl: Price, Release Date, Availability, And Deals
Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL release date
Google officially unveiled the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL on October 15, 2023, at an event in New York City. At that event, the company also unveiled other Made by Google devices, including the Google Nest Mini, the Google Pixel Buds 2, and the Google Pixelbook Go.
At that event, Google revealed that the new Pixel 4 family will be available for pre-order on that same day: October 15. Pre-orders were open for a little over a week, while the devices officially hit store shelves October 24.

For the first time ever, the Pixel 4 family is available from all four major US wireless carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Previously, the main entries in the Pixel line only saw a release through Verizon. Even the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL only saw a launch on Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
It’s now October 24, so the devices should also be on sale in brick-and-mortar stores.
VerizonVerizon Wireless has been the exclusive carrier for Pixel devices from the original all the way up to the Pixel 3. Although it doesn’t have an exclusive anymore, the Pixel 4 is still available on Big Red.
