The steps involved are:

It gathers Drivers

Optional features and languages of the prior installation, and use it to the new one.

Reboot to the Out-Of-Box-Experience (OOBE)

(Keep my files) Skip OOBE and proceed to login screen

This will complete Cloud Reset or Reinstall in Windows 10.

Troubleshooting if Cloud reinstall fails

If your computer is not able to boot into Windows, you can reset the computer using the cloud download option from the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE). When Windows is unable to boot after two consecutive failed attempts, the device should boot into Windows RE automatically.

If you previously connected over WiFi, then it will still work but will depend on drivers loaded by the PC manufacturer. We always suggest using an Ethernet port if available.

Does Windows 10 Cloud Download look good?

There are a few things still missing in the Cloud download. In case of a connection failure, does it redownload the whole ISO again? Because this has been the primary reason why many prefer to download the ISO and create bootable devices. Does it roll back if there are multiple failures? Does it allow you to use Windows while the download is in progress? It is important for those who don’t have very high-speed internet and download an ISO that can take about 40 minutes.

How long does it take to Reset Windows from the cloud?

It depends on the strength of your Internet connection. On average, it can take 45 minutes to 3 hours depending on the kind of OS you have installed, the speed of the processor, the RAM, and whether you have an HDD or an SSD drive.

Does resetting the PC make it faster?

The answer is yes. A factory reset can make your laptop run faster, though temporarily. This is because, with the passage of time, some temporary files may build up and turn your PC into the same sluggish machine as before.

Where The Cloud Can’t Save You

Generals will divide their forces to ensure that their army survives a battle. The cloud takes you to the next level, you can achieve the same by replicating your application, being in multiple places at once to keep a service window always open for your users. However, if the split forces still report to a single commander, and he gets taken captive, it doesn’t matter how many places you are located, none of them will be able to function. The army as a whole is vulnerable at a single point of failure. A distributed application can operate in several locations throughout a cloud network, but if every instance of that application is connected to the same database, you have the same problem. Your entire system is vulnerable at the point of its database – even on the cloud. In order for an army to split up and continue on its mission, local commanders must possess the same information as the general and possess the authority to make commands under his authority. In order for a database to enable the same agility to the entire application, it must be distributed where several copies of that database exist across multiple nodes, each having the same information and ability to operate independently.

Using Helicopters in a Drone World

Relational databases were first used in the 1960s, long before the cloud, or any type of distributed network. They are designed to work on a server and to provide all your data needs from one location. Their size and speed enable applications worldwide to serve their users with accuracy and speed. Their challenge is their perpetual monolithic structure. Due to the complexity of how a relational model puts together data, appearing on multiple nodes while constantly replicating to itself increases that complexity to unsustainable at any cost. Relational models restrict their applications to a single point of failure. Even at above average availability, cloud platforms do have outages. If such an outage were to hit a relational database, the entire application relying on that database will be disabled until a new server can be found.

A Distributed Solution for a Distributed World

Nonrelational databases were developed alongside the cloud a little over a decade ago. Like cloud platforms, they were developed to be distributed from scratch. Without the need for multiple tables or even schemas, the most common type of nonrelational database, the document database, is natural for a distributed system where multiple copies of your database can sit at the backend of multiple copies of your application. Provisioning servers on the cloud closest to where your users are reduces the distance from their device to your application, increasing performance. It also reduces load on any one database at any one time. It’s like being on the longest of three lines in the supermarket when an announcement is made: “Will the people at the end of the longest line please move to the front of the shortest?” How awesome is that.

The Age of Expanding Data

Like our universe, data is in a state of constant expansion. There is always more traffic, more volume, even the amount of information you can store in one unit of data is rising. To manage that, while keeping performance robust in the face of more information to constantly administer, you need a distributed system. If your application relies on one massive database, the cloud can’t save you. The best way to attack the data of tomorrow is with the finest tools of today.

How To Factory Reset Windows To Its Default Settings

If you’re having trouble with your Windows PC or planning to give it away or sell it, you may want to reset it to factory settings to erase your data. A full factory reset erases all your apps, settings, and files to return it to the way it was when you first purchased it. It’s a quick way to start from scratch.

Note: a Windows factory reset is a good way to fix many drive update issues and registry errors. However, you have to be patient, as the process can consume a lot of time, so allocate at least a few hours for this activity. This works for both Windows 10 and 11.

Note: factory resetting your Windows PC should be treated as the last option. It is best to troubleshoot the issues first, be it a Windows Store error, Windows update issues, or a Bad System Config error. Only reset the PC if none of the solutions work.

Back Up Your Data

A Windows factory reset erases all your data. This includes pictures, documents, music, etc. Back up all your important files before you perform the reset. You can do this easily by copying your files to an external hard drive, a flash drive, or your favorite cloud service. Alternatively, create a backup to a network drive.

You can simply copy and paste the files you want to keep or do a full system backup – either one will work. Do not make a system copy to another partition on the same hard drive as Windows.

Reset Windows to Factory Defaults

After all your files are safe, it’s time to start the reset process.

Select “Update & Security” in the left pane.

Select whether you want to keep or remove files. If you choose “Keep my files,” Windows attempts to reset everything but preserves personal files. It will delete any apps and app settings, though. If you choose “Remove everything,” Windows deletes everything. It’s best to delete everything if you’re having trouble or selling/donating/giving away your PC.

Choose whether to reinstall Windows with a local copy (this may be a recovery partition or physical media) or a cloud download.

Select custom installation options. These will vary slightly based on other options you’ve chosen. You’ll see things like “Clean data,” “Download Windows,” whether to wipe all drives or just the Windows drive, and whether to reinstall the preinstalled apps with your PC.

The PC will reset in the background. The exact time varies greatly based on the size of your hard drive and what type of reset you chose. For instance, deleting everything and installing all preinstalled apps will take longer. If you have a slower Internet connection, choosing to download Windows will also add to the time.

Advanced Startup “Reset” Method

Another option is to reset the Windows PC in Safe mode. This is preferred if you are stuck infinitely in the “Prepare to reset” option in the above section. It is mostly a GUI error. The same procedure is used in safe mode, but the steps are slightly different, as shown below.

To reset Windows in Safe mode:

Go to “Advanced Startup” in the Start menu. Once the blue screen starts, go to “Troubleshooting” followed by “Reset this PC.” You will get a choice to reset only the driver where Windows is installed or all drives. Choose the latter for a complete reset.

You will get the choice to “fully clean the drive” or just “remove the files.”

After the Reset Finishes

Once the reset finishes, you’ll receive the same prompts to set up your PC as you did when you first bought it. This includes setting up your network, setting your time zone, and various personal settings. Go step by step through these screens to get Windows back to the way it was.

Before you add your files, install all Windows updates. When you factory reset Windows, it also removes all updates that didn’t come with the original installation.

Press Win + I to open Settings.

Select “Update & Security.”

Choose “Windows Update.”

Search for updates and install all that you find. You’ll likely need to repeat this process several times to get them all. The process can take a few hours, depending on how much you need to install.

Finally, reinstall any apps that didn’t come with Windows that you use regularly. These may include games, productivity apps, photo editors, antivirus, etc.

Once everything else is set up, it’s time to copy your files over. If you did a system backup, you can use this versus having to reinstall all your apps.

Frequently Asked Questions Will a factory reset remove viruses?

Yes. However, if you don’t delete all the files, it’s possible the virus will still be attached to your files. Scan your backup drive for viruses before copying your files to the PC.

Why are some of my files missing if I chose to keep personal files during the reset?

While Windows usually does a good job of retaining your personal files, sometimes they do get deleted or corrupted during the process. This is why it’s important to make a full backup before doing a reset.

How To Activate Windows 11 Or Windows 10

In this post, we will see how to activate Windows 11/10. Activation is the initial process by which a Windows running on a PC is determined to be properly licensed and genuine, and it’s really quick and easy. It is different from Registration, in the sense that,  Activation is the process of ensuring that your copy of Windows is used according to the Microsoft Software License Terms, whereas registration is the process of entering information to sign up for product support, tools, and tips, and other product benefits.

It’s a great time to talk about Windows activation and how it will work. For customers who are already familiar with activating Windows 11/10, this will feel pretty familiar, and, as far as the user experience goes, it’s not too different from earlier Windows versions.

You can activate either online or by phone.

When you install Windows and log in with the user account, Windows will ask you to activate it. It’s a process through which Microsoft figures out if the copy of Windows is legit. Activation is easy, and it can be done through a Windows key or linked Microsoft account, and even transfer the key from an old machine to a new one if it’s a connected account. However, if you are facing an activation issue, this post will guide you on how to activate Windows 11 using multiple methods.

How to Activate Windows 11

You can use any of the following methods to activate your copy for Windows 11.

Run Activation Troubleshooter

SLMGR Command

Use your Microsoft Account

Before you go ahead with any of the steps, ensure that you have a proper internet connection and restart the system at least once. At times activation gets stuck, and this can help to resolve. Also, you will need an admin account before using these methods.

1] Run Activation Troubleshooter

Windows will then run the wizard and internal programs to resolve the problem.

If essential troubleshooting works, and the activation key entered earlier or linked to Microsoft account is valid, Windows should get activated.

2] SLMGR Method

SLMGR or Software Licensing Management Tool is a tool that can run commands to activate Windows. It is available for Windows users as well, and anyone can use it. You will need to use the Windows key using this method.

Keep a copy of the Windows key in the clipboard and notepad.

Open Run prompt using Win + R and then type WT followed by pressing the Enter key.

Type and execute the command slmgr.vbs /upk  to remove previously installed key.

It will then use the key to connect with the Microsoft licensing server, validate it, and activate it.

SLMGR command may not be available for Windows Home users.

3] Sign-in with Microsoft Account

When installing Windows 11, if you have used a local account, and your key is connected to your Microsoft account, you need to use it. Once the Windows key is digitally linked with Microsoft account, you can activate it or transfer it to any PC.

Expand the Activation State

If you have previously linked your Windows with a Microsoft account, then it will instantly activate your copy of Windows 11.

Activate Windows 10

To activate Windows 10 OS do the following:

Windows Activation

You can then select the method you want to use to activate. However, if you had chosen to automatically activate Windows online when you set up your computer, it will do so automatically in 3 days.

Activate Windows 10 using the SLUI.EXE

You can also activate Windows using the SLUI.EXE 3 command. You can get more information in this post on how to activate Windows Enterprise Edition.

Or you can run the following command from an elevated command prompt:

Once activated, you can view the Licensing Status and Activation ID of your Windows OS with chúng tôi .

Activate Windows 11/10 by Phone

This post will show you how to Activate Windows by Phone. This post also offers Microsoft Volume Licensing Activation Centers Worldwide Telephone numbers.

Activate Windows 11/10 after a hardware change

If you face issues after a hardware change, then this post shows how to activate Windows after a hardware change.

How long can you use unactivated Windows?

There is a 30 days evaluation period during which everything works. There will be a watermark available on the desktop until Windows is activated. Ensure that if you are evaluating Windows, keep a backup up of all documents and important files.

What happens if you don’t activate Windows?

A couple of things will happen. You will receive a notification that “Windows is not activated, please activate Windows now.” in Settings. In addition to the lock screen and wallpaper, you will not change accent colors, themes, etc. You won’t be able to modify anything related to Personalization. Some apps and features may cease to function. In a couple of months, I will start rebooting randomly.

How can I activate my Windows 11 for free?

Short Answer, you cannot. However, you can transfer your Windows 10 License to Windows 11 as the upgrade process is free if it’s the same version of Windows. If you don’t have the key and perform a fresh install, first ensure to connect the Microsoft account on Windows 10. Once done, upgrade, and then again use the same account in Windows 11.
