Sonos Arc discount arrives in rare refurbished sale from $139

Sonos is now launching a spring certified refurbished sale today, delivering rare discounts across its lineup of smart speakers for the first time since back in January. Our top pick is the Sonos Arc Soundbar at $719. Typically fetching $899 in new condition, today’s offer amounts to $180 in savings while matching our previous mention for the best price in over four months as well as the all-time low. Those who don’t need the built-in microphone can also score the Sonos Arc SL for $679, down from $849 to mark a new low.

Arriving as the brand’s most capable smart soundbar, Sonos Arc delivers eleven drivers in a sleek design for delivering a streamlined home theater setup with Dolby Atmos alongside all of the other staples of the ecosystem. That includes AirPlay 2 support, Trueplay audio, surround sound support, and integration with the rest of the Sonos speaker lineup. Then shop all of the other refurbished Sonos sale highlights from $139.

Save 40% on MagSafe chargers and more in Zagg’s sitewide sale

A new month has arrived and through the end of the day, Zagg is taking 40% off its entire selection of Apple accessories, chargers, keyboard cases, and more. Delivering the best prices of the year while beating our previous sitewide mention by an extra 15% off, there’s also an assortment of entirely new all-time lows. One such highlight is the new mophie 3-in-1 MagSafe Travel Charger, which drops down to $90. Normally fetching $150, this is well below our previous $112 offer and delivering the best price yet at $60 off.

Having just launched backed in January, mophie’s latest charger quickly stood out from other models on the market as what Apple should have delivered with AirPower. This premium 3-in-1 iPhone 13 charger packs a main 15W charging pad with official MFi Apple MagSafe support – that’s alongside a secondary 5W divot for refueling AirPods, as well as a built-in Apple Watch charging puck. We walked away quite impressed in our hands-on review, which breaks down the experience further.

Latest Anker iPhone accessory sale starts at $13

Anker’s official Amazon storefront is now offering its new Nano Pro 20W USB-C Charger for $15 as the headliner of its new mid-week sale. Marking one of the first discounts we’ve seen period, today’s offers are down from $20 and delivering new all-time lows on the entire lineup of styles.

As one of Anker’s latest and most compact chargers, its recent Nano Pro still packs 20W of power output over a USB-C PD port. Perfect as an iPhone companion, or any other smartphone for that matter, it sports a unique design that comes in one of four colors. Our hands-on review offers a better idea of what to expect. Plus, there’s more from $13.

Twelve South Curve Riser elevates your MacBook for $40

Amazon now offers the Twelve South Curve MacBook Stand for $40. Normally fetching $60, today’s offer amounts to 33% in savings while delivering a new 2023 low that’s $1 under previous discounts. On top of being the lowest this year, you’re also looking at the best price since back in 2023.

Twelve South’s premium Curve stand elevates your MacBook or other device 6 inches off the desk with a unique design that’s comprised of a single piece of aluminum. With an open base, it’ll not only improve the ergonomics of your setup, but also air flow to keep your machine running cooler with a matching matte black design, as well.

Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Earbuds fall to $199

Amazon is offering the Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Earbuds for $199. Normally going for $279, this 29% discount is a return to the all-time Amazon low we’ve tracked. Coming with a feature set similar to that of Apple’s AirPods Pro, you’ll get active noise cancellation with a volume-optimized active EQ, up to 18 hours of audio playback with the included charging case, which is compatible with wireless Qi chargers and the included USB-C cable, and an IPX4 rating to withstand sweat and rain so you can focus more on what you’re doing versus worrying about the earbuds.

While there are microphones for the ANC system, you will also be able to take calls while out and about while rejecting background noise to keep “your voice sounding clear for every call.” The Bose Music app allows you easily set up these earbuds and customize EQ and such. Sagem Puma Phone Goes On Sale

Sagem’s PUMA phone has finally gone on sale in Europe, a few months later than expected.  Packing a 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, custom Puma-themed UI and an integrated solar panel in the back cover, the PUMA phone is priced at €399 ($487) SIM-free and will be offered on subsidized agreements in Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Romania, Macedonia and Slovenia.

Much of the handset’s functionality is pretty much on a par with a regular featurephone: there’s a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, VGA front-facing camera for video calls, GPS, a microSD card slot and 3G/UMTS connectivity.  However Sagem and Puma have worked together to heavily customize the phone to suit their target audience, including adding in a pedometer and other sports-related functionality, and building a cloud-based store and multimedia center for downloading content and buying Puma-brand goods.

Whether that will be enough to lure in users remains to be seen, though Sagem say they’re expecting it to be a relatively niche handset.  For more on the PUMA phone, check out our hands-on report.

6 Ways To Increase Soft Conversions Before The Sale

Most marketing strategies focus on the hard conversion — that is, the actions that represent the greatest likelihood of purchase, such as a request for a quote, consult, or an online purchase. However, the best strategies will focus on soft conversions as well.

Soft conversions  are actions that indicate a demonstrable interest in your products or services, where the customer seeks more information before making the final purchase decision. These conversions are valuable, though they require more time and nurturing.

Optimize Your Funnel

Once you’ve moved the prospects into the funnel, you must get them through the middle — the conversion. At this point, you’ve got their attention, but you must bypass the three common reasons people won’t convert. They either don’t need it right now, can’t afford it right now, or don’t trust you right now.

Your optimization process should focus on conveying urgency, so people start to feel like they cannot wait to invest in your products or services. While offering a discount can do a great bit to entice them over the edge, you can also try the scarcity principle or exclusivity.

By offering a limited number of something, urgency comes into play. If you make it known the special offer is only available to your social media followers for a limited time, you’re playing into both exclusivity and scarcity.

Then, make sure they trust you. Build social proof with third-party reviews, testimonials, and evidence of shares across social media. Include an easy-to-understand, honest guarantee that you can support if your audience calls you on it.

Provide More Opportunities for the Soft Conversion

Looking at your funnel, how many chances do your prospects have to soft convert? The more, the better — because each chance gives you a connection to the potential customer. Typically, soft conversions include:

Viewing a specific web page

# of video views

General emails

Soft conversions are everywhere. When you go car shopping and the salesman asks a series of questions about your preferences: color, two doors vs. four doors, stripped down vs. fully loaded features, budget and ideal payment amount, and so on… each of those questions is a soft conversion for them.

In the end, they either present you with the perfect car for your needs — exactly what you described as willing to buy — or something close enough that you’ll convert. If they cannot do that, you’ll leave, either satisfied with the decision to go to another dealership or content with the current vehicle you’re in. But, it’s only when you drive off the lot in a new-to-you vehicle that they’ve met their end goal.

But beyond creating valuable content, you must make it easy for people to access your website, especially when logging in or registering is required. Oftentimes, sites require users to create an account, and while many will do that, others will walk away.

Consider adding a live chat option to your site, so visitors can quickly get in touch with someone at your company for more information. While you should also have a thorough FAQ section to address the most common questions your prospects ask, the idea of having someone there to answer questions right away is appealing for many potential customers. Nearly half of online consumers (44%) say having live chat support during online purchases is one of the most important features a company can have.

Change Up Your Email Marketing

Your strategy must include decision-making content, which answers questions that are frequently asked when someone purchases your products or services, overcomes objections, and provides opportunities to convert them into a hard lead. From the hard lead stage, it is much easier to convert to a buyer.

Drive Traffic to Soft Conversion Pages

Use social media channels you know your audience is using to build brand awareness and drive traffic to those soft conversion pages. Use software like Buffer or Hootsuite to schedule updates with calls to action, but remember to be present and actually engage with your audience, too.

If you’ve already got an established email list, send out a short blast to let them know you’ve just published an awesome new resource to help them.

Include Related Product Recommendations

If there’s a visitor looking around on your website, unsure of whether they want to buy Product A, seeing recommendations for Product B, Product C, and Product D may spur them to buy one of those instead, or better yet, more than one. Those recommendations may help someone who was only thinking about buying see that they can get everything they need from you — rather than shopping in three places. This approach also helps build trust and credibility, because it shows them what other customers who’ve purchased Product A also bought.

Get Fans Involved

Your social media fans are likely a mix of people who are soft conversions and people who’ve been a customer for a long time. Either way, creating a promotion that gets them involved can boost conversions and sales.

Lay’s Do Us a Flavor contest is a prime example. Every year since 2012, the company has reached out to fans to ask them for input on what should be the next flavor. Then they vote, and the top three flavors go to stores. The flavor with the most votes, also considering sales, wins and becomes part of the product lineup. The person who came up with the flavor gets $1 million cash prize, too.

Even though people may not actually eat chips on a regular basis, the idea of contributing to the brand and earning the prize is the incentive. And people who don’t regularly buy the products may consider trying the new flavors. It works well; it’s now in its fifth year.

Of course, we want those hard conversions because we want revenue and customers. But don’t let chasing those hard conversions get in the way of ignoring the soft conversions that play a major role in the customer acquisition process.

Icann Requests Answers About Sale Of Dot Org Registry

The sale of the organization that manages the dot org domain name registry has hit a snag. ICANN, the organization that oversees domain names announced that it is requesting further information about the proposed sale.  The announcement comes in response to what ICANN terms “many questions” having been raised.

Who is Behind the Dot Org Registry Sale?

The dot org domain registry is managed by Public Interest Registry (PIR). Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the non-profit organization that oversees domain names and IP addresses.

In March 2023, ICANN proposed removing price caps on the dot org domain name registrations. ICANN received overwhelming responses against the proposed change yet in May 2023 it decided to go ahead with the change.

Meanwhile, companies associated with former ICANN executives began forming the companies that would eventually attempt to purchase the organization in charge of the dot org registry, PIR.

Related: How to Choose a Domain Name That Will Stand the Test of Time

List of former ICANN executives and investment people behind the sale:

1. The CEO of ICANN left ICANN and began working at investment company Abry. Abry is a company that is co-founded by one of the members of ETHOS (who is purchasing the dot org registry).

2. Abry purchases a domain company called Donuts.

4. PIR sells Dot Org to Ethos.

5. Ethos Capital is co-founded by two people in May 2023. One is a former SR VP of ICANN and the other is a partner at Abry.

ICANN Requests Transparency

ICANN’s approval is needed before the sale can proceed. In its announcement, ICANN noted the substantial negative press that has been written about the sale and pledged to find out if the buyers are capable of running the dot org registry.

This is what ICANN announced:

“We have asked PIR to provide information related to the continuity of the operations of the .ORG registry, the nature of the proposed transaction, how the proposed new ownership structure would continue to adhere to the terms of our current agreement with PIR, and how they intend to act consistently with their promises to serve the .ORG community with more than 10 million domain name registrations.

We acknowledge the questions and concerns that are being raised and directed to ISOC, PIR, and ICANN relating to this change.”

Response to ICANN Statement

The responses to the statement voiced concern about the proposed sale.

“As a stakeholder in the .org community, and member of NCSG/NPOC there are a number of issues that concern me here, but a major one is that while Ethos Capital is making promises about the future, there is no track record for the newly formed Ethos, or evidence of expertise in the registry field by the investors.”

Will Sale of Dot Org Happen?

At this point it’s unclear whether the sale will be approved by ICANN. ICANN is requesting more information about the sale and the ability of the involved parties to manage the dot org domain name registry.
