Every router device goes dysfunctional at times and so are the Linksys routers. If your router is not working with a new modem, then that’s a pretty annoying problem. This might happen from the very start or you unexpectedly find it had lost connectivity.

Suspecting a faulty Internet port or Ethernet cable has produced little if any results to mention. You are still facing the same router to modem connection problem.

Separately, they both work fine. Therefore, you’re most likely looking for ways to cope up with this Linksys router-modem conflict. Follow the methods discussed below to successfully do that.

1. Reboot the modem, then the router

Rebooting your router means cycling the power to it. You should first try to unplug the power connector from the back of the router and plug it back in. Rebooting the modem, then the router, and finally the PC restores connectivity most of the time.

2. Clone the Mac address of your computer

Open any web browser.

Enter the default 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, then press Enter.

Enter your login details. The default username is admin and the password is blank.

Clone the MAC address of your laptop to the route. This should work, and you ought to be all set and ready to surf the Internet.

You could also power off the Spectrum modem, unplug the coax, and wait a few minutes so that the modem loses the associated MAC address. Then, plug it back in and see if the connection works.

1. Power cycle your router and the modem

Unplug both the modem and the router.

Wait for 30 seconds. This allows the short-term memory of the devices to clear completely.

Plug the Arris modem back in first.

Wait a few more seconds for the modem to connect before turning on the router.

There is a difference between resetting a router and rebooting a router. The first fix you should try is to reboot (power cycle) it. This procedure will hardly take a few minutes of your time, so power cycle both your router and the modem.

2. Change the router’s default IP

Access your Linksys cloud account.

Enter the IP address you want for your router.

192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255

Most Arris modems use the default setting for their IP and that will conflict with your router’s DHCP. Try changing your router IP, then reconnect.

3. Reset the router

Everything else left now is pretty much returning to the factory defaults. Reset your Linksys router, then connect your modem to the router. From the router, connect a cable to your computer.

Expert tip:

If you’re having trouble accessing Command Prompt as an admin, then you better take a closer look at this guide.

1. Power cycle the devices

Power cycle is just another way of saying that it’s time to turn both your router and Comcast modem off, then on. Rebooting them can often fix connection problems similar to yours, so give a try to this method.

2. Check ISP MTU requirements

Select Command Prompt to open the application.

Perform a ping test and take note of the results.

You’ll receive a reply regarding the correct MTU size.

Determining the correct MTU size to resolve intermittent wired connections is imperative. After knowing it, don’t hesitate to change the MTU Size.

First of all, ensure the port on your computer is enabled. If you turn on Wi-Fi, it disables the Ethernet port. Turn off the modem and do a factory reset on the router by taking a sharp object and pressing down on the Reset button for about 30 seconds.

After that, unplug and re-plug the router’s power adapter. While it’s booting, plug in a straight cable from the PC to a LAN port on the router. Also, plug in a cat5e or cat6 from the router’s WAN port to the modem.

Wait until the router finishes booting. If it doesn’t open a browser, then open one by yourself and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. That should get you to log in and solve the issue.

Remember, a reset like this one erases all settings you have ever changed in the past.

Worried you must begin re-configuring these settings? Follow this handy guide for help on this important process.

If this doesn’t work, we would recommend calling your cable ISP and telling them to send a tech who is able to set up the Internet through the router.

New Ink Cartridge Not Working? 5 Ways To Fix It

Printers are a lifesaver but we need to admit that sometimes, it is a hassle to work with them. Printers always have something wrong with them and sometimes, they don’t even recognize the ink cartridge when we set a new one.

New ink cartridge problems are something we all printer users have faced. It is mostly caused due to improper installation of the ink cartridge. The cause and solution can vary according to the printer but once you navigate the cause, you’ll be able to fix it instantly.

Why Is My New Ink Cartridge Not Working?

When the ink cartridges do not work, you face issues like blank papers getting printed, lines in papers, faded and blurry words etc. Here we have mentioned some of the most common reasons for new ink cartridges not working in printers. Look at these causes and also check whether one of these is the problem.

Protective Tape Is Still Attached: The new ink cartridges have a protective tape that covers the ink nozzle so that the ink does not spill. You need to take this out before using it for the ink to print out. Check for the tape and remove it if you have not.

Ink Cartridge Not Installed Properly: Just installing the ink cartridge is not enough for the printer to work. You need to install the ink cartridge in a proper way for it to start working. If you install ink cartridges improperly, there is also a high chance of damage in your printer.

Bending of Golden Pins: When you replace the new ink cartridge, be careful and install it slowly. Watch out for the golden pins and make sure they are not bent in any way.

Dust Particles: If you are refilling the ink cartridge then there must be some build up dirt on the printer and the cartridge. Cleaning out the dirt and dust particles is better for your printer and your stress levels if you don’t want incoming issues in the future.

Incompatible/Damaged Ink Cartridge: When you buy ink cartridges, make sure to check them well before buying. Because if you buy a wrong one or a malfunctioned one, your printer will not recognize it at all. For example if you have bought a 304 ink cartridge for HP 3831 printer then it will not work because they are not compatible.

How Can I Fix the New Ink Cartridge Not Working?

When the ink cartridge is not working after you have replaced it with a new one, resetting the ink cartridge works most of the time. So try to reset the ink cartridge first and then move on to other solutions that we have mentioned below.

Reset Ink Cartridge

When you renew the ink cartridge, your printer may sometimes not acknowledge it. Due to this, you get an ink cartridge not recognized error. But most of the printers recognize the new ink cartridge after you use the reset feature. Here’s how you can reset the ink cartridge of any printer:

Clean the Golden Pins of Your Printer

When you look inside your printer, you can find the golden pins. It helps in connecting the cartridge and your printer. Sometimes the dust particles are also present in the golden pin which does not let you connect your cartridge properly.

To clean the golden pins, you must be extra careful. There might be high chances of bending and even breaking of golden pins. Be careful to not break those golden pins. Take a soft and thin cloth with you if you need to clean the golden pins. The clothes you use should be dry and make sure the golden pins are still present without any bent.

Check if the Paper Is Stuck

Some of the paper might be folded when you are printing. Folded papers will get stuck in the printer which may cause different errors. Your new ink cartridge might not function due to this reason. For this, you should follow the following steps

Update the Printer Driver

Sometimes the problem may not be in the printer but in the printer driver itself. Printer drivers need to be updated once in a while so that no issues arise later on. If you use an outdated printer driver then update you need to update it and check if it works for you. Here’s how you can do it:

Run the installer to complete.

Check for Windows Update

Sometimes, there may be the pending printer drivers update that is causing the issue. So, make sure you keep your windows updated to avoid such issues.

Here’re the steps to check for Windows update:

If there are any printer driver updates, Windows will automatically install and update them.

Use Printer Troubleshooter

Use the windows troubleshooter to see what is wrong with the printer and fix them. Follow these steps to perform troubleshooting on Microsoft print to pdf:

On Windows 10

On Windows 11

How to Reinstall the Ink Cartridge?

Reinstalling the ink cartridge can be done by reading the manual you get while buying the printer. If you have lost the manual you can reinstall a new ink cartridge in the printer by following these steps:

Open the front of the printer.

Open the ink cartridge housing.

Replace the cartridge in its previous spot.

Windows 11 Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working (Fix)

If Windows fails to respond to certain shortcut keys you press, try the solutions below to fix the issue. This guide outlines 8 workarounds on how to fix keyboard shortcuts not working in Windows 11.

How to fix shortcut keys not working in Windows 11

On the webpage, press the keyboard shortcut keys to see if the keys on the on-screen keyboard will light up. If the keys you press do light up as you press them, it means they are working as they should.

If any key you press won’t light up as you press it, it may indicate that the key is broken (hardware issue). Try the problem keyboard shortcut on another keyboard and see if it works. If it does, you may need to replace your broken keyboard.

In some cases, a key may still respond if you press only that particular key, but not with other keys simultaneously such as when you pressing a keyboard shortcut. This kind of problem is called keyboard ghosting. Ghosting is an issue where some keyboard keys don’t work when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously.

When this happens, you can try to enable sticky key in Windows 11 (see below) to allow you to execute keyboard shortcuts without pressing the keys simultaneously. In addition, you may also want to look for an “anti-ghosting” keyboard (which is usually more expensive than conventional keyboards) if the keyboard shortcuts you want to use are very complex.

Also see: How to Remap Keyboard Keys in Windows 11

Enabling the Sticky keys feature in Windows 11 will allow you to press one key at a time and still be able to perform keyboard shortcuts. If you have difficulty trying to press the keyboard shortcuts (e.g. keys being too far apart), or if your keyboard has ghosting issue, the sticky keys feature may come in handy.

In addition, if sticky keys is enabled, it may also cause issue with certain keyboard shortcuts. If it’s enabled as you encounter keyboard shortcuts not working issue, try to disable it and see if the issue can be resolved.

Follow the steps below to enable or disable the Sticky keys feature in Windows 11.

Press Win + i keys to open Settings, or open it from the Start menu.

Next, select Accessibility from the left pane, and select Keyboard from the right.

Suggested Read: How to Disable a Key on Keyboard in Windows 11

Check if there is any software that is conflicting with the keyboard shortcuts you use. For example, if you are in a game while performing the keyboard shortcut that doesn’t work, make sure there is no similar keyboard shortcut in the game that conflicts with the Windows 11 keyboard shortcut.

This also often happens in other complex software or apps which have their own set of keyboard shortcuts that may conflict with Windows keyboard shortcuts.

Before trying the more complex solutions, you should try to run the keyboard troubleshooter first to see if Windows can troubleshoot and resolve the issue automatically. Follow the steps below to run the keyboard troubleshooter on Windows 11.

Press Win + i keys to open Settings.

Select System from the left pane, and then select Troubleshoot on the right.

Next, select Other troubleshooters.

Some high-end gaming keyboards has a feature called Gaming Mode that will disable keyboard shortcuts such as Alt + Tab, Windows + any other key, etc. to prevent Windows from interrupting the gameplay.

If you have a gaming keyboard that has the gaming mode feature, try to turn it off and see if the keyboard shortcuts that didn’t work, works now. There is usually a switch or key (usually with Fn) on the keyboard itself to turn the gaming mode on or off.

Related: How to Lock Keyboard in Windows 11

There is a service called Human Interface Device Service that handles the keyboard shortcuts functionality in Windows 11. Check if the service is running in the background as it should be, or try to restart the service to see if it can resolves the keyboard shortcuts not working issue.

Follow the steps below to start or restart the Human Interface Device Service in Windows 11.

Search for “Services” via the Start menu and open it.

There is also a group policy that is responsible for keyboard shortcut keys on Windows 11. If this policy is accidentally “enabled”, keyboard shortcuts and all Windows hotkeys will not work. Follow the steps below to access the mentioned group policy.

Search for “ chúng tôi ” or “Edit group policy” to open the Group Policy Editor in Windows 11.

In the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to the following path via the left pane.

Select Disabled to disable the setting.

If you select “Disabled” or “Not Configured” for this setting, the Windows Key keyboard shortcuts will be available.

If you select “Enabled“, the Windows Key keyboard shortcuts will be unavailable.

You don’t usually need to manually update or install your keyboard’s driver unless if you have a rather high-end gaming keyboard. If you do have a gaming keyboard, check the keyboard manufacturer’s website to see if there is any new update to its driver.
