Suggested December 2023 Hotspot Shield Vpn For Iphone, Android, Mac, And Windows

Every other day we read news stating Instagram was hacked, or hackers stole user data from Facebook. The Internet revolution is great, but it certainly comes with a lot of risks. At the same time, we cannot cut off our ties from the internet; it is part of our lives now. Whenever you connect to the internet, you are vulnerable to cyber attacks, and a VPN like Hotspot Shield can help you a lot.

Even if you don’t visit any website, but keep your Windows, Mac, iPhone, or Android connected to the internet, you are exposing your data to hackers. That’s because when you connect to the internet, you broadcast your IP address, and hackers can use it to penetrate your device and get what they want.

Maybe I am a little too excited here; it’s not that easy to hack your device with just IP address, and also hackers don’t target average users. Also, iPhone, Mac, Windows, and Android have enough security to withstand most of such cyber attacks. It will take special efforts to penetrate your device.

It’s not just about hacking, data mining is also a big business, and that’s no secret. You visit a lot of websites on the internet, and they do collect a lot of information about your buying preference, browsing preference, etc. With a VPN like Hotspot shield, this can be eliminated. If this has got your attention by now, stay with me throughout this post, and you’ll understand the importance of having a VPN.

Hotspot Shield VPN – Review 1. Encryption and No-Log policy

Whatever information you broadcast over the internet is vulnerable to attack. If that’s not encrypted, you are likely to lose that data to some mischievous Nigerian prince. For this reason, it is better to have a decent VPN that encrypts all your data, no matter what you do on the internet.

Now you may already wonder that if VPN protects you from search engines, then obviously the VPN has your data. That’s correct, but Hotspot Shield has No-Log policy. That means the information you provide isn’t stored anywhere on the company’s server. It is used only for real-time processing purpose.

2. Bypass Geo-restrictions

In such a situation, Hotspot Shield VPN can let you access any geo-restricted content without any issue. That is possible because the company has thousands of servers worldwide, you need to select the country from the list inside the app, and you can access that content without any trouble.

3. Unlimited Bandwidth

One of the common misconceptions about VPN is that they reduce the internet speeds. But that’s not the case with Hotspot Shield VPN. They have optimized servers to give you the best possible speed. On top of that, there’s no cap attached to your account. Some VPN providers allow you a full speed for few MBs or GBs, but then the speed is next to dead.

Hotspot Shield VPN gives you unmetered bandwidth all the time. Having tried it personally, I can say that you won’t even notice the slightest difference in speed. But again, it all depends mostly on your native internet speed. If you have a metered bandwidth, no VPN can give you full-speed, because, in the end, it is your internet connection that is slow.

4. Let’s talk numbers

Hotspot Shield has 2500 servers in 25 different countries. That means 100 servers per country. What does this mean to you? This means no matter what country you connect to; you will receive full-speed without any lag. Besides that, the company has over 30 patents for optimizing VPN speeds.

When it comes to security, the company has patented a VPN protocol that is used by 70% of the world’s largest security companies. In terms of performance and security, the company claims to be number one on the list.

Talking about popularity, the Hotspot Shield VPN user base consists of 200 different countries, totaling 650 million users over Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Chrome. That is a remarkable figure.

Hotspot Shield VPN is available for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Chrome browser. There’s a free version as well available for the platforms mentioned above, but with limited functionality or for a limited time. If you decide to subscribe, below are the available plans:

Monthly subscription – $12.99

Yearly Subscription – $5.99/month

3 Year Subscription – $2.99/month

Buy now

Hotspot Shield VPN is available for business as well that allows you to secure your office, and their pricing is mentioned below:

One month subscription – $39.99

Six months subscription – $29.99/month

One year subscription – $19.99/month

That’s all for now!

Wrapping up…

Having tried several VPN apps on different platforms, Hotspot Shield VPN is credible and delivers as promised. On top of that, their support is quick and they know how to solve the problem. This is what get me glued to their services. The only thing is that they do not have any native app for Ubuntu.

Recoverit 8.0 Data Recovery For Mac And Windows

Losing data is pretty common for Laptop or Desktop users. It doesn’t matter whether you are using Mac or Windows, you may occasionally run into issues where you don’t get a chance to backup data. In times like that, you may need a powerful data recovery tool. The data recovery tool from Wondershare – Recoverit 8.0 is what you need in such situations.

One common issue faced by Windows user is the blue screen of death; where users don’t have any other option than to format the drive and reinstall the OS. Recoverit allows you to create a bootable drive and help you recover the data from a crashed system as well. Not just that, the feature also allows recovering data on Mac too.

Whatever may be the reason for you to have a data recovery tool, Recoverit will stand up to your expectations. Here’s a detailed review of the app, have a read and then decide yourself.

Review – Recoverit 8.0 Data Recovery for Mac and Windows #1. Recovery features

Before jumping to recovering data, one thing that the user needs to do is disable csrutil from Terminal app by restarting Mac in Recovery Mode. Without disabling this, Recoverit will not start the file scanning process. Here’s the command:

csrutil disable

After your Mac restarts, you can relaunch the Recoverit app. All the features are available on the launch screen itself. You can recover data from HDD, external devices, Trash, Desktop, or any other specific folder.

These options are beneficial. It is not necessary that every time we lose everything on the Mac or Windows. We may have deleted a specific folder and then removed it from Trash as well.

Instead of scanning the entire HDD, like many other recovery tools, Recoverit solves this limitation. It allows you to select the destination folder where you wish to perform the scan. This reduces the scanning and recovery time by a noticeable margin.

#2. Design and Feel

This may not be a deciding factor for most of the users. But a stable and clean design of the software displays the efforts made to develop it. It shows the dedication invested by managing micro things during the development phase. Anyways, when you first launch the software, you get all the features right on the launch screen.

You can also check the preview of the photos before you decide to recover it. The preview window is big enough to have a clear view of the image. That’s one more value addition to the app.

#3. Recover Crashed OS

With typical file recovery tools, you can recover files and folders. But Recoverit takes a step ahead. Using Recoverit, you can create a bootable disk/USB and then use it boot into a crashed system. It will recover most of your important data even if macOS is completely collapsed.

Not just that, the Windows version of Recoverit can help you recover from the Blue screen of death, which is very common on Windows PC. After you have recovered your data, you can format the device, and then you can recover the backed up data.

#4. Compatible File types for recovery

Recovering photos, videos, text files, or any other file type is like a walk in the garden for Recoverit. The unique feature it offers is the ability to recover the raw data as well. And yes, all these compatibilities applies to external devices like SDD, RAID, SAN, DAS, Camera, camcorder, music player, and video player.

Another notable feature is that Recoverit can support scanning 10+ hard drive on a PC. So if you have a big desktop computer having multiple HDDs, Recoverit is the tool you should have.

#5. Pricing and compatibility

Recoverit is available for multiple platforms – Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. The free version is available to try with a limit of 100MB recovery. The best part is that all features are fully unlocked in the free version, but there’s a cap on recovering data.

This is an excellent approach to let users experience all features without limitations. Unlike other tools, that have some basic features available for free, while the features that are needed to try are locked for free users.

When it comes to price, there are multiple options:

Recoverit Professional – One year for one PC – $49.95

Recoverit Ultimate – One year for one PC – $59.95

Recoverit Technician – One year and 500 PC – $299.95

Wrapping up…

What makes Recoverit worth the money is the trust they have gained. So far, more than 5 million users around the globe are using Recoverit and recovering their data back. Besides, Wondershare is a well-known company developing enterprise level applications to solve complex problems. I’ll leave the final decision on you.

How to use voice type in Google Docs (2 ways)

You can choose to enroll in the beta program or use the Dictation feature offered by your device to voice type in Docs. Follow either of the section below, depending on the method you prefer.

Method 1: Use the native voice type feature

Here’s how you can use the native voice typing feature in Google Docs. Follow the steps below to help you along with the process.

As discussed earlier, the native voice type feature for Google Docs is still currently in its beta phase. Thus this feature has a few requirements to get it working as intended. Use this list to help you get familiar with the same.

Note: While Voice Typing is available officially only in Google Chrome, it may work well with other Chromium browsers. We, however, recommend using Chrome for now to avoid any unexpected bugs and issues.

Microphone: You will need a microphone to use voice typing in Google Docs.

Microphone permissions: You will need to grant Chrome the ability to use your PC’s microphone.

Step 1: Enable Microphone

Let’s first ensure that your microphone is enabled and working with Google Chrome. Use the relevant section below, depending on your current device, to help you along with the process.

On Windows 11 PC

Now enable the toggle for Google Chrome from the list on your screen.

And that’s it! You will now have enabled microphone permissions for Chrome on your PC.

On Mac

Like on Windows, the Google Chrome application requires access to your microphone in order to let you type using the name Voice typing feature on Google Docs. To give Google Chrome access to your Mac’s microphone unit, open System Preferences on your Mac from the Menu bar, Launchpad, Dock, or Spotlight.

When the Privacy tab opens, select Microphone from the left sidebar.

Inside the “Allow the apps below to access your microphone” section, check the Google Chrome box.

This will immediately give the Google Chrome app on your Mac access to your device’s microphone.

Step 2: Use Voice Typing

Now that we have enabled microphone permissions, we can now use voice typing in Google Docs. Follow the steps below to help you along with the process.

Now name your document as needed in the top left corner.

Select Voice typing.

You can also use the Ctrl + Shift + S keyboard shortcut to activate voice typing.

Method 2: Use the Dictation feature on your device

You can also choose to use the native dictation feature offered by your device to voice type in Google Docs. Dictation is offered by most modern-day devices as an accessibility feature, and it was recently added to Windows 11 as well. Use the dedicated sections below to help you use dictation on any device.

On Mac

macOS has a native Dictation feature that lets you dictate text of any length instead of using a keyboard. The tool can be used on any app running on your Mac, including Safari, thus allowing you to dictate text on Google Docs as well. Before you can start using this feature, you must be wary of the requirements that are necessary to get it to work while using Google Docs on a Mac.

An active internet connection (for Macs with non-Apple silicon)

For best results, use Safari to open Google Docs. Dictation doesn’t work efficiently on other web browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox.

You’re using dictation in a language that’s supported by Apple:

Chinese (Mandarin)

Chinese (Shanghainese)

Norwegian Bokmãl

Now, select Add Language from this menu.

You can now select the language that you added from the Language dropdown menu.

Step 2: Use Dictation in Google Docs

To enter text using your voice on Google Docs, launch the Safari app on your Mac and open the Google Docs homepage.

Inside Google Docs, sign into your Google account and then open the document where you wish to enter text using your voice.

Once you do that, press the Control key (or the key you previously configured) on your keyboard twice. When you do that, you’ll hear a tone to indicate that your Mac is ready for dictation. At the same time, you’ll also see a floating microphone bubble appear somewhere on the screen.

You can now start dictating text using your voice and your Mac should be able to pick up the words you speak and add them to the Google Docs document. The words you type will be highlighted with an underline. To enter punctuation, typographical, mathematical, or other signs, you just need to say the sign name and it will be entered as text inside the document. Similarly, you can also make formatting changes or capitalize letters, and words using their relevant commands. You can view the full set of dictation commands on this Apple Support page.

Dictation will now be disabled until you re-activate it using its dedicated shortcut.
