Suggested April 2024 How To Check If Your Iphone 6S Is Eligible For Apple’s Battery Replacement Program

Update, Dec 1, 2024: Following our post below showing you how to check if your iPhone 6s is eligible for Apple’s battery replacement program, the company has now added its own tool via the program’s webpage.

Update #2, Dec 2, 2024: A full statement from Apple after the original story below.

When Apple announced an iPhone 6s battery replacement program last week, identifying select models that might be eligible for a free repair due to unexpected shutdowns, it only specified manufacturing dates for potentially affected devices. It recommended customers take a trip to an Apple store or authorized reseller if they are experiencing issues to check if they are eligible for a repair. But there’s a quick and easy way to check if your device is eligible at home, using the same process that Apple repair staff will be using in stores…

Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2024…. Your iPhone will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program and in working order.

Apple is replacing batteries for what it said is “a very small number of iPhone 6s devices” that were manufactured between September and October of 2024 in a limited serial number range. Here’s how to check your device:

Check for the following characters located in the 4th and 5th position of your iPhone’s serial number:

Apple store staff will be replacing batteries with spare parts where available, but otherwise will be sending out for battery replacement stock or in some cases replacing the entire device. We’re hearing from several Apple store sources, however, that battery supplies are constrained and some stores will have to wait until December 5th or later to receive stock for repairs. One Apple store we spoke with had as many as 60 battery parts ordered for customers waiting for repairs, while other reports this week also indicated a supply shortage following the introduction of Apple’s new repair program.

Regular wear and tear is expected, so as long as your device is in working order you should be eligible for a battery swap or replacement device if you fall in the serial number range above. Apple store staff will, however, only offer the repair to those that specifically report unexpected shutdown issues.

Apple notes that the program will cover “affected iPhone 6s batteries for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.” You can also request a refund if you’ve already paid for a battery repair or replacement on an eligible device.

Apple issued a statement with additional details on what caused the issue via it’s Chinese website:

A Message from Apple about
iPhone and Unexpected Shutdowns

We care deeply about our customers and take seriously concerns they have about their Apple products. After hearing reports from iPhone customers whose devices unexpectedly shut down, we thoroughly looked into these reports, and collected and analyzed devices.

We found that a small number of iPhone 6s devices made in September and October 2024 contained a battery component that was exposed to controlled ambient air longer than it should have been before being assembled into battery packs. As a result, these batteries degrade faster than a normal battery and cause unexpected shutdowns to occur. It’s important to note, this is not a safety issue.

To help our customers who are experiencing this issue, we are replacing batteries in affected devices, free of charge. iPhone 6s owners can easily find out if their device is eligible by typing in their device’s serial number on the iPhone 6s Program for Unexpected Shutdown Issues web page. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused customers.

We also want our customers to know that an iPhone is actually designed to shut down automatically under certain conditions, such as extremely cold temperature. To an iPhone user, some of those shutdowns might seem unexpected, but they are designed to protect the device’s electronics from low voltage.

We looked for any other factors that could cause an iPhone to shut down unexpectedly. After intensive investigations, no new factors have been identified. We will continue to monitor and analyze customer reports.

We encourage any customer who experiences an issue with an Apple product to visit an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or to contact Apple Support.

Best Battery Cases For Iphone 6S

In addition to regularly providing you with accessory spotlight posts, we’ve also been rounding up the accessories we showcase, so you can easily run through the list without having to search our database.

Anker’s Ultra Slim battery case is one of the thinnest on the market, at 13mm thick (though not as thin as Spider’s PowerShadow). It is also fairly lightweight as battery cases go, adding less than three ounces to the weight of your device. The 2,850 mAh battery can increase your usage as much as 120 percent. It is a two-piece case with a matte exterior for added grip. It is MFi certified and has a 3.5mm jack adapter so you don’t have to worry about whether your headphone jack will fit. It is available on Amazon for $43.

Mophie is probably the most popular battery case maker, and earlier this year, the company launched its first every waterproof case. The 2,750 mAh rechargeable battery provides double the juice of the iPhone 6s. It also features a pass-through charge and sync system (though the company does not claim it is MFi certified), so you can sync data with your computer while the case recharges. Its waterproof rating is IP-68 and it also has a Military Standards grade of 810G. It comes in black, white, and blue and is available on Amazon for between $97 and $130, depending on your color choice.

We would be remiss if we didn’t include Apple’s very own battery case. This year, the company launched the accessory, much to our surprise (and to some of our chagrin). The unusual design of the Smart Battery Case may have been a turn-off for some of us, but as Jeff Benjamin noted in his one-month later review, the benefit of that back hump is that it has ergonomic value. The battery capacity may seem small at only 1,877 mAh (as discovered by iFixit), but it can provide as much as 11 hours of extra talk and eight hours of extra web browsing to your iPhone 6s. The case itself is made from soft elastomer for ease of use, but it has an added benefit of providing extra grip. It comes in charcoal gray or white and is available at Apple retail stores for $99.

This two-piece case by i-Blason is made from polycarbonate with a rubberized anti-slip coating. It houses a 3,200 mAh rechargeable battery with a charging on/ off button. If you are done charging your iPhone, but want to reserve what is left of the battery pack for a later time, switch it off so it won’t continue charging as your battery drains. It is MFi certified to properly charge and can be connected to your computer (with the case on) to sync your data over iTunes. It is available on Amazon in a variety of colors for between $60 and $70. There is also a version for the iPhone 6s Plus for between $70 and $80.

Trainium Atomic S

Tranium’s battery charger case is made from polycarbonate as well. Its 3,100 mAh battery can add as much as 14 hours of talk or 10 hours of Internet browsing. It has shock resistant bumpers around the entire perimeter for additional drop protection. The front-facing speakers add a nice audio touch. The LED indicator lights on the back let you know how much juice the pack has left. The button on the backside lets you turn the charging feature on and off. It is available on Amazon for between $50 and $60, depending on your color preference. There is also a version for the iPhone 6s Plus for $60.

This two-piece polycarbonate case has a thin design, but is made with protection in mind. The case covers all ports and buttons and features a raised lip on the front to protect from screen damage when your iPhone 6s lays flat. The 3,000 mAh rechargeable battery can juice up your device from zero to 100 across four or five hours, but you can use it the entire time. It is MFi certified and has a one-year warranty. You can sync your device to your computer while the case is still on. It comes in a variety of colors and is available on Amazon for between $50 and $70. There is a version for the iPhone 6s Plus for $70.

Spyder’s version of the battery charger case is made from the same sturdy polycarbonate that the rest of them. This version is coated with an antimicrobial “Silver Seal” coating. It is unique because of its relative thinness. It measures only 12.5mm thick. The rechargeable battery is weaker than the others at only 2,750 mAh, which might be the reason. However, if thinness trumps extended usage in your life, this case may be what you need. It still manages to provide as much as eight additional hours of talk. It comes in a variety of colors and is available on Amazon for $100.

This powerful charging case doubles as a rugged case thanks to the four removable bumpers, which provide drop protection on the corners. The 3,100 mAh battery quickly juices up your iPhone 6s and automatically shuts off once it is fully charged. It is MFi certified, so you can sync data on your computer via iTunes while the case is still on. It also comes with a special 3.5mm pass-through adapter that makes it possible for you to fit any sized headphone into the jack. It is available in a variety of colors for as low as $35 on Amazon. There is also a version for the iPhone 6s Plus for only $45.

Swift Program To Check If An Array Is Empty

In this article, we will learn how to write a swift program to check if an array is empty. Here we use two methods:

Using isEmpty property

Using conditional statements

Method 1: Using isEmpty Property

To check if an array is empty Swift provides an isEmpty property. This property will return true if the given array is empty or return false if the given array is not empty. For example Arr = [3, 5, 6, 4, 6] so isEmpty property will return false.

Syntax var isEmpty: Bool{get}

Or you can also write it as −

Here using the dot operator, we can access the property. Or we can say to use this property we use a dot operator in between the array name and the property name

Step 1 − Create an array of any data type.

Step 2 − Check if the given array is empty or not using isEmpty property and store the result into another variable.

var res1Array = IntArray.isEmpty

Step 3 − Print the output

In the following example, we check whether the given array is empty or not using isEmpty property.

import Foundation import Glibc var IntArray : [Int] = [74, 99, 9, 38, 78, 132] var StringArray : [String] = [] var res1Array = IntArray.isEmpty var res2Array = StringArray.isEmpty print("Is IntArray is empty?", res1Array) print("Is StringArray is empty?", res2Array) Output Is IntArray is empty? false Is StringArray is empty? true

Here, in the above code, we create two different types(that is Int and String) of arrays and then check if the given arrays are empty or not using the isEmpty property and display the final result.

Method 2: Using Conditional Statements

An empty element does not contain any value or element means the length of the array is zero. So using a conditional statements we check whether the length of the array is zero or not. If the length of the array is zero then the array is empty. Otherwise not.

Step 1 − Create an array of any data type.

Step 2 − Check if the given array is empty or not using conditional statements.

if (IntArray.count == 0)

Step 3 − If the condition is true print the array is empty.

Step 4 − If the condition is false print the array is not empty.

In the following example, we check whether the given array is empty or not using isEmpty property.

import Foundation import Glibc var IntArray : [String] = ["Mona", "Pinu", "Moha"] var StringArray : [String] = [] if (IntArray.count == 0){ print("IntArray is empty") } else { print("IntArray is not empty") } if (StringArray.count == 0){ print("StringArray is empty") } else { print("StringArray is not empty") }

In the following example, we check whether the given array is empty or not using a conditional statement.

Output IntArray is not empty StringArray is empty

Here, in the above code, we create two different types(that is Int and String) of arrays and then check if the given arrays are empty or not using if statement. In the if statement, we set the condition IntArray.count == 0 which means the length of the IntArray is equal to zero. If the condition is true, then the array is empty. Otherwise not.

So, this is how we can check if the given array is empty or not either using the isEmpty property or without the isEmpty property. But the most optimized solution is to check if the given array is empty using the isEmpty property.

How To Check Airpods Battery Life

AirPods have quickly risen as one of the most popular choices for Apple users to listen to music, podcasts and movies. While using your AirPods, the last thing you want is for them to completely lose battery power while you are in the middle of an important call or exciting movie scene. Thankfully, your AirPods make it incredibly easy to track your battery life. Here are some simple ways you can check your AirPods’ battery life.

Easy as a Snap

One of the quickest and easiest ways to check battery life on your AirPods is to simply open the case. Whenever your AirPods are in the case next to your iPhone or iPad, open the case and look at your home screen. After a few seconds, you will see a prompt at the bottom of your screen showing you the battery status of your AirPods and the charging case.

On a Mac (iMac, MacBook/Pro) Adding Widgets

With the release of iOS 14, there are now two different methods to check your AirPods battery life using widgets. Swiping right from the home screen or lock screen as well as adding widgets to your home screen directly can help you look at battery life on your AirPods. For the home or lock screens, swipe right so you see your Today View.

1. Scroll to the bottom and tap on edit. When the available widgets appear, find the battery life widget and tap on “Add” or the “+” button so that it appears in the list.

2. You can drag the widget around so that it appears at the top, bottom or anywhere in the middle.

Note that the battery widget does not just show your AirPods battery life but also shows battery life for your iPhone and any other connected devices like Apple Pencil, Apple Watch, etc.

Adding the battery widget to your home screen is another quick and easy way to track battery life.

1. Start by touching and holding an empty area on your home screen until the apps start to jiggle.

2. When you see the “+” sign appear at the top of the upper left of your screen, tap on it.

3. Locate the battery widget. As you do, you will notice that you have multiple size options for the widget, so choose whichever one works best for you.

Ask Siri

When you need to check battery life but also need to stay hands free, Siri to the rescue. Say “Hey Siri” and ask, “How much battery life is left on my AirPods?” Alternatively, you can also say, “Hey Siri, AirPods Battery Life.” Most variations of these phrases will work and, with a successful request to Siri, will then read out or show your battery life onscreen.

AirPods Max No Paired Device

When all other methods fail or are not available, you can always check battery life on your AirPods from the charging case. Open up the case and check the color of the little LED light. If it shows as green, the AirPods have more than 50% of their charge available. If it shows amber, they are less than 50% charged.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch does so much it can even show you battery life for your AirPods.

1. Start by swiping up from the bottom of the watch face to show the Control Center.

2. Inside the Control Center, tap on the battery percentage icon which initially starts by just showing the battery life of the Apple Watch.

3. If AirPods are connected, you will see their battery life underneath the Apple Watch percentage remaining.

Final Thoughts

Using any of the methods available on this list should keep you from ever finding yourself without AirPods battery life. Now all you need to do is become a master at stopping your AirPods from switching between devices automatically.

8 Ways To Check If Your Phone Is Being Tapped, How To Stop It

Tapping Android phones is much easier than iPhones. In the case of iPhones, the other party will likely have to jailbreak the device before installing any backdoor or spyware. Anyways, whatever device you have, below are some pointers to help you check if your phone is being tapped or monitored.

1. Increased Data Usage & Phone Bills

Most malicious apps use the internet to upload your data. So, check your data usage to see if any unknown app or software is suspiciously consuming data in the background.

Open Settings on your Android phone.

Select Wifi and Network.

Open Settings on your iPhone.

Here, scroll down to Current Period.

You can now see the apps and data used by them on your iPhone.

2. Higher Battery Drain & Overheating

Using the phone in a hot environment, keeping the brightness at maximum, or playing heavy games or applications can cause overheating and battery drain problems. However, if the phone is getting warm or losing battery too quickly even when idle, it could be a malicious app spying in the background.

So, check your battery usage to see whether it’s due to common reasons like a buggy app update or apps running in the background, or there’s something fishy on the device.

Open Settings on your Android phone.

Tap View Detailed Usage to check what apps are draining the battery.

Open Settings on your iPhone.

Here, select Battery.

Scroll down and check the battery usage by app and activity.

Spyware tools usually eat a lot of resources in the background. A tapped phone could be recording all conversations even when the phone appears to be idle, causing the phone to feel sluggish and discharge quickly.

Usually, these apps are disguised to look like system apps and may contain names like security, malware, messenger, scanner, etc. You must also be aware of popular spying apps in the market like mSpy, FlexiSpy, XNspy, and more. These apps can snoop into your calls, messages, location, and even capture your screen.

However, if your phone has an app like FamiSafe, Norton Family Premier, etc., it could likely be your parents limiting your phone.

Tip: If no other app is installed on your phone, yet the other party knows your location at a given moment, check Google Maps. Someone might have turned on location sharing on your phone. Thankfully, Google sends periodic notifications about it.

Another sign of spyware on Android or iPhone is random suspicious text messages. If you have started receiving weird texts with random letters, symbols, or numbers from unknown senders, then you need to be extra careful.

These messages could be the other party trying to communicate with the spyware on your phone. Similarly, if your contacts report having received weird text messages from you, then the app is likely trying to install malware on their devices.

There are several third-party apps that let you scan for spyware on your phone. In general, any reliable anti-malware app would detect unwanted apps on your phone. That said, you can also try apps like Certo Anti Spyware to check for tapping tools on Android.

iPhone users shall check if their device is jailbroken. To do so, see if there’s an app called “Cydia” installed on the device. You can also use desktop tools like 3UTools or look for other jailbreak signs like extra customization options, apps not from App Store, etc.

If you find that the iPhone is jailbroken but do not remember trying anything such, it probably has been jailbroken to install spyware by some third party to tap the device.

The first step would be to turn on airplane mode. Doing so would block all the connectivity features and cut off connection for the app or tool trying to spy on you. Once done, you can proceed with the other methods below.

Now, check the list of installed apps carefully and remove any app you don’t remember installing. Even if you have the slightest suspicion, delete the app.

If a malicious app prevents you from disabling it, reboot your phone in safe mode. Doing so will disable all third-party apps on the phone. You can then uninstall the app without any hassles.

Restarting in safe mode varies by phone. Generally, you would get the Safe Mode prompt by pressing and holding the Power toggle in the power menu.

If the spyware is still present on the phone, proceed with a complete factory data reset but make sure to back up any important data.

Open Settings on your Android phone.

Confirm to proceed.

Open Settings on your iPhone.

Then, select Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Tap Erase All Content and Settings and proceed.

Lastly, check and update your phone to the latest available software. Doing so will patch any security vulnerabilities and make sure the same cannot be exploited again to infect your phone.

How To Show Battery Percentage On Your Iphone Home Screen

iOS 14 has opened up a new world of customizations for iPhone and iPad users offering users the ability to color icons, customize icons, create widgets, and make cool home screens with ease. Among these customizable options is being greeted with the battery percentage of your iPhone neatly on your home screen.

In this post, we’ll help you figure out how you can make your iPhone home screen show the battery percentage.

Note: Before you proceed through this guide, make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS – iOS 14.

How to show your iPhone’s battery percentage on the home screen

To be able to show your iPhone’s battery percentage on the home screen, first unlock your iPhone and then tap and hold on an empty space on the home screen till you go into jiggle mode. Jiggle mode is when the apps and widgets on your home screen begin to jiggle, indicating that you can start to customize. When Jiggle mode is enabled, tap on the Plus icon at the top right (or left) corner of your iPhone home screen.

Your next step is to find and apply the widget that shows you your iPhone’s battery percentage. To do this, scroll down the list of preset widgets that’s available on your iPhone and select the ‘Batteries’ option from the list.

In the next screen, you will need to select the widget size. You can select a size from – Small, Medium, and Large. If you just want to view the battery stats of just your iPhone, then we suggest picking the Small size to make the most room for all other apps and widgets on your home screen. Once you have made up your mind on the widget size, tap on the ‘Add Widget’ button at the bottom.

Your battery widget will now be added to your iPhone home screen.  Tap on anywhere else on the home screen to exit jiggle mode and make your changes permanent.

How to show the battery percentage of your iPhone and connected devices

If you often connect Bluetooth devices like wireless earphones, speakers, and Apple Watch, you can also show the battery percentage of all these devices on your iPhone home screen. Before you move to create a battery widget, make sure you have connected to all the Bluetooth devices you generally connect to, so that you can make up your mind on which widget to choose.

To show the battery percentage of your iPhone and connected devices, tap and hold on an empty space on the home screen until you go into jiggle mode. Here, tap on the Plus icon at the top right (or left) corner to access the widgets available to you.

Inside the Widgets list, scroll down and tap on the ‘Batteries’ option from the list.

Now you need to select the size of your battery widget. Unlike earlier, we’d suggest you go for either the medium or large option so that the widget box has more room to show you the details of all your connected devices and their battery percentage.

The medium-sized battery widget has four slots for showing battery percentage with icons for each one of your devices. On the other hand, the large-sized battery widget shows you the entire names of connected devices and their battery percentage. We’ll recommend the Large option if you are connected to more than 3 devices at once or would want to see the name of the devices you are connected to at all times.

Once you have selected the appropriate size of the widget, tap on the ‘Add Widget’ button at the bottom.

You will now return to the iOS home screen. To stop the icons and widgets from shaking, tap any blank space on the screen to set your home screen with your newly created battery widget.

Should you download third-party widgets for showing battery percentage?

NO, at least for now. While there are a bunch of widget apps that claim to show the battery percentage on your iOS home screen, for some reason, the apps we tried failed to do exactly that consistently. We tried using Battery Widget & Usage Monitor and Usage: Activity & Data Widget and although the widgets at disposal look quite good on your home screen, they fail to update themselves as your phone’s battery status changed.

What we’re trying to say is, in contrast to Apple’s own Batteries widget, widgets from both of these apps don’t appear to update to the current status of your battery but instead show the battery status of your phone when you last opened the widget app.

The reason for both of these apps not showing real-time battery stats of your iPhone could have something to do with iOS’ unwillingness to share background battery details with third-party apps. Thus, at least for now, it doesn’t make sense to install a third-party widget app for the sole purpose of showing the battery percentage.

What do you have to say about the battery widget on iOS 14? Has it been helpful are do you think Apple should make more of them?
