The fourth-generation Apple TV allows you to begin watching a live channel immediately, simply by asking Siri. Called Live Tune-In, this feature works with supported video-streaming apps that provide live TV functionality.

With it, you can quickly pop into a live news broadcast on CNN or a live game on ESPN without manually launching apps or navigating menus.

In other words, Live Tune-In makes your Apple TV behave more like a conventional TV. Telling Siri to go to a live channel couldn’t be easier, as this quick tutorial attests.

Using Live Tune-In in an unsupported country

Readers who don’t live in U.S. may be able to use Live Tune-In if they’re logged in to the tvOS App Store with a U.S. account and set regional settings on their Apple TV to “United States” and Siri settings to “English (United States”).

How does Live Tune-In work?

A tvOS app that offers 24/7 streams based on HTTP Live Streaming and FairPlay Streaming—regardless of whether they’re available for free to all users or with paid subscriptions—can optionally offer Live Tune-In functionality.

Assuming a developer has implemented support for Live Tune-In in their app, a user can invoke Siri and simply say aloud what channel they’d like to watch live.

How to use Live Tune-In

This is how you can jump straight into the live TV feeds of select apps.

1) Press and hold the Siri button on your Siri Remote or tap the Siri icon in the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, then say: “Watch [APP NAME] live”.

2) Let go of the button.

For example, if you have CBS app on your device you would simply say “Watch CBS live” to start watching their live TV programming, as shown below.

Or maybe you installed ESPN’s Apple TV app and wanted to jump straight to their live feed? In that case, you’d tell Siri that you wanted to “Watch ESPN live”.

To confirm that the video currently being watched is a live broadcast, swipe down on the Siri Remote’s Touch surface to reveal a menu at the top, then highlight the Info option.

You should see “Live” in the menu if the video is a live broadcast.

Notable apps that support Live Tune-In

As mentioned, video-streaming apps that contain live feeds don’t automatically gain Live Tune-In functionality: developers must specifically implement the feature.

Live streaming and Single Sign-On

Keep in mind that in most cases live-streaming of premium video content requires signing in with your cable or satellite credentials, with the exception of services that offer online-only subscriptions, such as HBO NOW.

Signing into multiple apps or authenticating by typing an alphanumeric code into a browser will soon become a thing of the past thanks to another Apple TV feature.

They’re calling it Single Sign-On and it’s coming later this year.

With it, you’ll manage access credentials for video-streaming apps in one central location to have tvOS automatically sign you into apps that support Single Sign-On.

The interface will display a list of Single Sign-On apps based on your saved credentials and the tvOS App Store will promote and highlight them as well. Single Sign-On will be coming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in a future update, Apple has confirmed.

How To Use The Xbox Live App For Windows Pc

The Xbox App for Windows 11/10 is looking like a true winner, something worthy of regular use by gamers all around the world. The app brings to the table many of the features that make Xbox Live unique and fun to use. However, it doesn’t come with the biggest con Xbox Live faces, and that’s the $60 price tag to play online.

Xbox Live app for Windows PC How does the Xbox One app stack up?

The most important thing about the app is the fact that users can stream Xbox One games to their PC. Just connect the console to the PC through the app, and watch the magic as any game being played on the console, begin to be streamed to the PC.

This is great for when you might want to go outside with your laptop for a while, or if your living room television is shared with others in the house.

The problem here is that it is not yet possible to stream games outside of your local network. It means that going to your friend’s house a few blocks down the road in hopes of showing off the new streaming trick, will not work.

When it comes down to how the app performs overall, we can’t complain. Though we should point out that a slow computer might have difficulties, so bear that in mind.

How to use the Xbox app

The Xbox app for Windows 10 is different from the one for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. It is more gaming focused now, in fact, everything about it is gaming focused. On the left-hand side, users should see a pain of icons with words beside them. They allow the app to do all the great things it does.

For example, the Home button brings the user to the home screen of the app. Here gamers can view all the activities from anyone on their friends list. If a person earns an Achievement, Gamerscore, or just happened to share a video, it will all show up here.

The My Games section shows the games in the user’s library. It can be games from the Windows Store or more traditional games from Steam or other platforms.

Another thing we like is Game DVR. With this, users can record the best scenes in their video game and share them with their friends. The big upside to this feature and the one on the Xbox One is the fact that gamers can record for longer periods.

Users can even use Game DVR to view videos from others in the community. Right now we are watching a few guys performing neat tricks with a bike in Grand Theft Auto 6.

On the right side of the app, we get to see the pane where all folks on your friends list will show up. If they are offline, you will know, if they are online, you will know.

There’s a settings option on the left pane. From there, users can decide if they want the Xbox Live app to have a Live tile or a static one. You can also choose to be notified when your favorite friends start a Twitch broadcast, or how Game DVR works in the background.

Not every PC is capable of recording games in the background, so keep that in mind.

Overall, the Xbox Live app is great, and we hope to see Microsoft add more features in the future.

Tune Your Table Saw Up The Right Way

A table saw is one of the most useful and versatile tools in any workshop. A good one makes straight cuts fast and easy, and if you venture into building or buying jigs, you can cut joinery, straighten board edges, and even cut coves in boards. But like any tool, table saws require routine maintenance. Over time, parts of your saw may start to drift out of alignment, and those straight lines and right angles you’ve taken for granted will become less so.

Fortunately, a return to square is a relatively quick process and requires only a few tools. In about an hour, you can get your table saw back to—or better than—factory quality.

But before we get into the specifics of exactly how to tune up a table saw, I’ll note that I have the Dewalt 7491RS job site table saw, so all of my specifics are based on that tool. Most saws have similar adjustments, but check your manual if you have any questions about your saw.

Materials Instructions

1. Unplug your saw. A plugged-in table saw is a dangerous table saw. Never work on your saw, or any tool, while it has any connection to power. You don’t want to risk an electric shock or accidentally turning the saw on when your hands are in the danger zone.

2. Remove the throat plate and blade. First, raise the blade as high as it will go, and then remove the throat plate. This is the piece the blade juts out of, and there should be a locking screw holding the plate in place. Simply unlock the screw and pull it up. Then loosen and remove the arbor nut to take off the blade, using the wrenches that came with your saw.

Note: The arbor nut holds the blade in place, and you may have to turn it right instead of left to get it off. This type of reverse threading keeps it tight while the blade spins.

3. Clean the arbor and surrounding gears. Sawdust collects just about everywhere in a table saw, and can impede performance over time. Using a brush, compressed air, and a shop vac, clean all of the sawdust out of the arbor (the shaft that holds the blade), arbor nut, and drive gears. On many saws, you can reach these from the top, but you may get better access by crawling underneath. If you’re feeling motivated, or your saw is particularly dirty, you can take off the motor and belts to more thoroughly clean around them. If you do remove any belts or drive systems, take at least one photo beforehand so you have a reference for how to put it all back together.

Pro tip: If you have areas with stubborn pitch or residue, try using mineral spirits as a cleaning agent.

4. Lubricate the arbor and gears. Once these areas are sawdust-free, lubricate them liberally, per your manufacturer’s instructions. I use a spray-on “dry” lubricant. Then reinstall the blade and throat plate.

5. Clean and lubricate the other gears. Once the engine and drive gears are clean, move on to the ones that control the height of the blade, as well as those that let you adjust your fence, if applicable. Scrub them free of any sawdust and residue with your brush, air compressor, and mineral spirits as needed. Once they’re clean and moving easily, lubricate them, working the gears back and forth to ensure that all of the teeth are well coated.

6. Set the blade to 90 degrees. Getting a perfect right angle between your tabletop and saw blade is the most important adjustment you can make. Cuts made at more or less than 90 degrees won’t fit tightly together, and can result in projects that are all but impossible to square up. Fortunately, this is a relatively easy fix.

The best way to check your blade alignment is with a digital angle gauge. Simply place the gauge on your tabletop and zero it. Then hold the gauge against the fully-raised saw blade, avoiding any of the teeth if possible. The gauge will display the angle of your blade in relation to the tabletop.

If you don’t have a digital angle gauge, you can use a speed square. Set the flat of the square against the tabletop and press the other edge against the blade. If you can see daylight between the two at the top or bottom, you don’t have a 90-degree angle.

7. Adjust the bevel stops, if you have them. Many table saws have bevel stops, which are pieces of metal that allow you to push the bevel adjustment all the way to one side for 90 degrees, and all the way to the other side for 45 degrees. If your saw has these, adjust them now. On mine, this is as simple as using an allen wrench to turn an oval-shaped piece of metal until it touches the bevel arm in the 90-degree position. Then I move the blade to 45 degrees, checking with my angle gauge, and set the 45-degree bevel stop. This allows me to quickly position the blade at 90 and 45 degrees, the two most common angles, without having to look and micro-adjust.

8. Square the blade to the miter slot. The next most important adjustment on your table saw is aligning the blade and fence to the miter slot to ensure that you’re getting square rip cuts as well as bevels. Checking the alignment is straightforward with a combination square. Press the flat of the square to the edge of the miter slot, and then extend the ruler until it touches one of the teeth of the blade on the infeed side. Slowly spin the blade so that the same tooth is on the far outfeed side, and check the distance with the combination square there. The blade is properly aligned when the combination square touches the tooth in both positions. If the ruler touches the tooth in one location, but there is a gap at the other, or it pushes the combination square away from the miter slot, your blade needs adjustment.

On my saw, there are two hex-head screws below the outfeed side of the table. If yours does too, or has something similar, loosen them slightly with an allen wrench or appropriate tool, allowing the blade box to move left and right. Move the edge of the blade box toward the miter slot if there is space between the ruler and blade, or away if the ruler is pressing into the blade. Repeat your alignment check and adjustments numerous times until the end of the ruler touches the tooth on both the infeed and outfeed side. Then lock the screws back into place.

Note: If you have a saw that doesn’t have miter slots, you can align your blade to your fence using the same technique. Just press the flat of the square against the blade and the end of the ruler against the fence. And you should also probably consider upgrading your saw—miter slots are invaluable.

9. Square the fence to the miter slot. Squaring the fence to the miter slot follows the same basic process as the blade. Press the flat of the combination square into the miter slot on the infeed side of the table, and then extend the ruler until it’s just touching the fence. Then slide the square to the outfeed side of the table. Lower the blade if you need to get it out the way. The ruler should touch the fence the entire length. If it doesn’t, the miter slot and fence are not square.

Adjust the fence by loosening one of its mounting hex screws on the infeed or outfeed side and bumping the fence over by hand as needed. Check and adjust as many times as you need to for a perfect alignment.

10. Recheck everything. Sometimes when you’re adjusting one element, another moves. Before you call it a job well done, recheck all of your alignments, and check that the blade and fence are actually parallel to one another. Readjust your blade and fence as needed.

11. Wax the tabletop. This is the final step and will both protect the table top and allow the wood you cut to slide more smoothly over the surface. Using a clean rag, apply a thin layer of paste wax to the table top and working edge of the fence. Let the wax rest for 10 to 15 minutes, then buff it out until the entire surface is smooth.

When you’re done, plug the saw back in and turn it on. Listen for any strange noises and look for wobbling in the blade. I always let my saw run for a full minute or more after I’ve worked on it before running any wood through to make sure that I put everything back together properly.

When you’re sure it’s all running as it should, get back to cutting! There’s nothing prettier in all of woodworking than a crisp right angle hot off the saw.

Update, January 25, 2023: A previous version of this story suggested squaring the blade to the fence. While this is possible and may be your only option if your saw doesn’t have a miter slot, squaring both the blade and fence to the miter slot is a more accurate and consistent measurement.

The first thing you need to do (unless you’re joining an existing team) is creating a team. Even if you are joining a company team, you may want to make another one to chat with groups of friends.

Open the Teams tab on the left-hand side.

Choose whether to Build a team from scratch or pull in contacts from an existing group or team.

Select privacy settings: Private, Public, or Org-wide.

Enter a name and description.

Once in the team, you’ll see the main team chat with a list of channels below. Channels are group chats around a single theme. You can also have private chats with individuals or groups.

Rand function in Excel generates random numbers. As the function’s name is RAND, which is used short for Random value, the RAND function generates values between 0 and 1 only. As a trainer to teach the SUM function to my students, I need to generate some numbers from 0 to less than 1. I quickly do that with the RAND function.

Here I have generated numbers from A2 to E17 and applied the SUM formula for each column in row 18. SUM is taking the range as A2:A17, B2:B17, and so on until E2:E17.

Assume you are running a lottery shop, and you need to assign some of the numbers against each lottery ticket and select only the numbers greater than 0.95.

Now, we need to generate numbers and chose the winner. Let us go ahead and apply the RAND function to generate numbers.

Note: Since RAND is a volatile function, once you generate the numbers, copy and paste only values using the paste special method.

Now we have generated random numbers in column C.

The winner will be declared if the RAND number is bigger than 0.95.

Now, again we need to apply one more formula to get this done and declare the winner. We need to use the IF condition to declare the winner.

IF condition done here is testing whether the values in column C are greater than or equal to zero and if that logical test is true.

Then it will return the result as Winner. In the above table, the winner is Rihu. Since her score is greater than 0.95, so the formula declared her as the Winner.

If the logical result is false

Then it will return the result as Better Luck Next Time.

Example #3

Using this function, we can generate numbers that are less than 1. What if we want to generate an integer number less than 100? In order to generate random numbers from 10 to 100, we need to use the function INT to get the numbers that are full numbers, i.e. no decimals in place.

Here INT function eliminates the decimal places, and our highest value is 100, and our lowest value is 10.
