Suggested April 2024 Ryan Petrich’s Treadmill Tweak Logs How Much Scrolling You Do

Have you ever wondered just how much scrolling you do on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad? Chances are, you do a whole lot more scrolling than you think.

If you’re rocking a jailbroken device, Ryan Petrich has just released a new free jailbreak tweak called Treadmill via his personal beta repository in Cydia that keeps track of how much scrolling you do, and can show you in real time just how much exercise you’re giving your fingers.

Tracking the amount of scrolling you do

Whether it’s browsing websites, scrolling up and down through the jailbreak tweak releases in Cydia, or scrolling through all the settings your iPhone has to offer in your Settings app, chances are you probably do a lot of scrolling to find information on your iOS devices.

The million-dollar question would be: how much scrolling do you do; is there a way to measure it? The short answer is: yes.

Your device’s display is a few inches tall, and varies depending on the device, so every time you scroll one screen length, you can add that to the distance you’ve scrolled. As you can imagine, the repetitive scrolling can add up pretty quickly in distance.

Using Treadmill to measure the distance you’ve scrolled

Treadmill adds a preferences pane to your device’s Settings app that shows the distance you’ve scrolled in both pixels and yards, just to give you a realistic perspective of just how much scrolling you do. It’s nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done.

In our case, we’re using an iPhone 5, and it has a display that is 1,136 pixels tall. With that in mind, when we see a result of 57,480 in the Treadmill preferences pane, we can divide that by the amount of pixels we know the iPhone 5 display to be, and get a result of about 50.6. This tells us that we’ve scrolled almost 50.6 full screen lengths since installing Treadmill.

The conversion to yards that the tweak displays is also very interesting, because this puts into a tangible distance perspective just how much we’ve scrolled. Imagine unrolling 22 yards of toilet paper, and that would be how much screen space you’ve scrolled through to get this result.

My thoughts on Treadmill

Knowing Ryan, Treadmill is meant to be fun and informative; this tweak isn’t necessarily something you need to have, but it’s a very cool proof of concept tweak and it’s something you might check back on every so often just out of curiosity to see how much more you’ve scrolled since the last time you had checked the numbers.

Treadmill is a tweak intended for your entertainment and to give you a better understanding of the amount of distance you travel virtually when you do all the scrolling you do.

Obviously, if you could care less about how far you scroll over time, then Treadmill probably isn’t something you would be interested in installing and checking out, but if you think being able to track something like this would be interesting, then by all means give it a try. Being free, there’s nothing to lose if you decide to uninstall it later on.

A couple of things that I thought were worth mentioning are that despite the tweak always running in the background to keep track of all the scrolling you’re doing, there doesn’t appear to be any noticeable impact on battery life. It also doesn’t appear to cause any additional lagginess to the butter-smooth scrolling experience of iOS we all know and love.

How to get Treadmill

Treadmill is not being hosted in any of Cydia’s default repositories just yet. Instead, it’s available in Ryan Petrich’s beta repository. To add the beta repository, if you don’t already have it, you will need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch the Cydia app and go to the “Sources” tab.

Step 2: Tap on the “Edit” button and then tap on the “Add” button.

Step 3: In the text field of the pop-up that appears, type in the following repository URL:

Step 4: Tap on the “Add Source” button and wait for the repository to load into Cydia.

Step 5: Now you should be able to search for and install Treadmill from Cydia – it’s a free download.

Treadmill isn’t some breakthrough new jailbreak tweak, but it’s a fun little project that Ryan Petrich thought would be fun for some people to play with, hence why it’s free in his beta repository and not on a main repository in Cydia. On the other hand, being able to see just how much scrolling you do is kind of a neat little ability to have.

How Much Can You Save When You Trade

Robert Triggs / Android Authority

The Google Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro are undeniably attractive devices. Google has a record of producing high-end hardware at relatively affordable prices, and the latest smartphone flagships from the tech giant are among the best Android phones on the market. But why would you pay full price if you can get a considerable discount with a Pixel 7 trade-in deal?

We’ll look at how much you can save by swapping out the old device (that you probably won’t need anymore) and how you’d go about it.

Depending on the retailer and the device you have to switch up, you can get the Pixel 7 for free with a trade-in, although it may also involve committing to a service contract. Find out your options below.

This is how much you can save when you trade in your old phone for a Pixel 7

Rita El Khoury / Android Authority

There are a number of network operators and retail outlets that offer savings when you trade in your old device for the Pixel 7. The discount you can earn almost always depends on the make and model of the phone you’re trading in and its condition, so we can’t outline every permutation here. The table below summarizes the maximum trade-in values for which you can qualify and any other requirements.

In the case of both Amazon and Best Buy, the trade-in values don’t relate specifically to the Pixel 7. These are the amounts you can get in the form of a gift card for trading in your old device. It’s essentially selling your old phone for store credit, which you can then put towards the Pixel 7 if you’re so inclined.

If you’re adding a new line of service with Verizon, you can get a free Pixel 7 without even trading in your old device. But you will need to commit to a lengthy service contract. The same is true of AT&T, although the Pixel 7 is a reduced cost of $10 per month on their network rather than being free.

The trade-in process for every retailer will be a little different, but they all tend to follow the same steps.

All retailers recognize the inherent problem with swapping an old phone for a new one is that you are likely to want to transfer over your data to the new phone, so they have to send it to you first. For this reason, you’ll get an estimate of your old phone’s value, and you won’t receive any payment or bill credit until the retailer has received your old device and assessed it.

Here is the general process to trade in your old device for a Pixel 7:

Find the Pixel 7 at your retailer of choice.

When prompted, select the option to trade in a device.

Provide the details of the device you wish to trade in. This will usually include manufacturer, model, storage capacity, and condition. You will then be given an estimated trade-in value for your old handset.

Complete the purchase. This may involve agreeing to a service contract if buying from a network operator like Verizon or T-Mobile.

When you receive your Pixel 7, transfer any data you wish to retain from the old device to the new one. We have a guide on how to transfer data to a new phone.

Remove your SIM card from the old phone and perform a factory reset.

Send your old device to the retailer as instructed. You’re usually given 14 or 30 days from receiving your new phone to send your old one.

Await the verdict of the retailer and subsequent discount or gift card.

Are You Exercising Too Much? Here’S How To Tell

All of us are aware of the health benefits associated with physical activity. Working out is good for so many different aspects of your physical and mental well-being, including your heart, bones, weight, and emotions. Additionally, although the majority of Americans have a problem with not getting enough exercise, some also have a problem with exercising too much.

David Miranda, a physical therapist and proprietor of Excel Rehabilitation Services in Gonzales, Louisiana, says, “Overexercising is unproductive and may potentially be detrimental to your health.”

How can you tell if you’re going too fast? Read on to hear what Miranda and other fitness experts have to say about the matter.

Ways in Which Excessive Exercise May Occur

The United States Department of Health and Human Services recommends that individuals engage in strength training and 150–300 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise or 75–150 minutes of strenuous aerobic activity each week.

However, the recommendations also note that there is no definitive limit beyond which the positive effects of exercise stop being realised. The rules also fail to state whether or not excessive exercise is harmful. The majority of endurance and professional athletes engage in physical exercise for much longer than the recommended minimum each week without any negative health effects.

However, a 2023 analysis published in the journal AIMS Public Health reveals that there is debate among sport medicine experts as to whether or not too much exercise may ever be hazardous in ultra-endurance athletes. However, some studies show that there is no maximum amount of aerobic exercise that is beneficial to the heart for healthy people.

How much physical activity is too much?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) identifies two primary ways in which exercise may be overdone −

When you workout too hard, too fast, you overtrain. Mark Slabaugh, MD, an orthopaedic sports medicine specialist with orthopaedics and joint replacement at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, says, “Factors such as the intensity, duration, and length of exercises need to be eased into and increased gradually.”

Inadequate recovery time between workouts (or total rest days off from exercise) is a common cause of overtraining, as are deficiencies in the right nutrients, sleep, intensity, and volume of exercise, as well as illness and other life stresses.

However, “Nutrition is typically a big component in overexercising,” Dr. Slabaugh says. All athletes, regardless of skill level, must ensure they are getting enough to eat in order to recover from and continue their training.

Exercise Addiction

According to the National Institutes of Health, compulsive exercise occurs when physical activity is no longer seen as a personal choice but rather as a duty (or it becomes addictive). Addicts to exercise may find that they no longer take pleasure in it, or that skipping a workout gives them negative emotions like guilt or anxiety.

What Is Too Much Exercise?

Overexertion occurs when someone switches from not exercising to excessively exercising to lose weight or become in shape. It’s how quickly you work, not how much.

Excessive training and compulsive behaviour may lead to overtraining. Overtraining symptoms are constant. Include −

Muscle Pain

Muscles should hurt for four days after workout. Overtraining may lower immunological response, making you worse.

Injuries Have Gone Up

According to the American Council on Exercise, injuries that occur often or repeatedly indicate an underlying problem (ACE).

Depression, irritability, and low energy levels

According to ACE, exhaustion might be a symptom that you’re trying to do too much, too soon.

Experiencing Premature Fatigue During Exercise

When muscles tyre too soon, it’s typically a warning of trouble.

Performance Stagnation/Decline

The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City warns against pushing one’s body too far, too soon if one notices they are not recovering from their workouts or making progress.

Rate of Resting Heart Rate Rises

Regular exercise lowers resting heart rate, but excessive exercise may increase it, according to the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Its elevation may suggest a serious ailment or cardiovascular system change.

Exercise First

Skipping social occasions to train may reflect a preoccupation with fitness or a work-life imbalance.

Moderate exercise may boost your mood, but too much might leave you fatigued. ACE and HSS suggest that over exercisers may feel anxious and frightened about missing a workout.

Is It Possible to Overtrain Your Body?

Let’s know if it is possible to overtrain your body or not.

Short-term overexercises

Overexercising might lower mood and energy. Overtraining may deplete energy and drive, causing irritation, aggression, trouble sleeping, poor concentration, and a general dissatisfaction with life.

A greater resting heart rate, lack of appetite, or mood shift are symptoms that you may be pushing yourself too hard, too fast. Another possibility is insomnia.

According to North-western Medicine, overrunning may cause stress fractures, muscular strains, runner’s knee, joint discomfort, tendonitis, and bursitis.

Players who don’t get adequate rest often get tendinitis, fatigue, and tendon tears.

Long-term overexercises

Long-term, excessive exercise may damage the kidneys and heart.

Overexertion may cause rhabdomyolysis, among other fatalities. Rhabdomyolysis, a life-threatening disease caused by muscle tissue injury, releases proteins and electrolytes into the blood, according to the CDC. Heart and renal issues may result (CDC). Exercisers who suspect rhabdomyolysis should see a doctor promptly.

Women may lose their periods and develop osteoporosis from overexercising. Men may lose libido.

Marathon running and intense gym training may impair the immune system, according to the National Institutes of Health.

In December 2024, the Journal of Behavioural Addictions reported that prolonged over exercising may aggravate depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anxiety.

Is There Anything You Can Do If You Find That You Are Overworking Out?

Make sure you’re taking precautions to avoid resuming an excessive exercise schedule upon your return to training after this break. Key areas of concentration are −

A Healthy Diet

Your intensive effort requires fuelling your body. Maintain a balanced, nutritious diet.

Workouts demand more hydration since it’s needed for many biological activities. Hydration may alleviate muscle weariness and discomfort.

Sleep well to finish your workouts. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7–9 hours of sleep every night for people.

Allocating Time for Sleep and Recuperation

The National Institutes of Health recommends taking one day off a week and waiting at least six hours between workouts to allow your body to recover.

Safari Plus: The Jailbreak Tweak That Lets You Micro

Safari is the web browser of choice for iPhone and iPad users alike. While it gets the job done in its most basic form, jailbreakers can harness the power of Safari-oriented jailbreak tweaks to unlock power features that ordinary users will drool over.

One of my favorite jailbreak tweaks for the Safari on the iPhone and iPad is Safari Plus, a long-maintained add-on by iOS developer opa334 that lets you customize so many parameters of the app that it could be thought of as the ‘Springtomize of Safari.’

We originally showed you Safari Plus back in 2023, but a lot had changed since then. Several iterations of iOS & iPadOS later, Safari is almost unrecognizable, and yet opa334 has continued to maintain Safari Plus for up to and including iOS & iPadOS 14.

In addition to maintaining Safari Plus, the time has given the tweak time to mature. An exponential amount of new options have been added since then, so much so that we believe it warrants a second look. Having said that, today we will be showing you the modern Safari Plus tweak.

With so many options to configure, it would be better for us to walk you through the cavernous preference pane that you’ll find in the Settings app post-installation:

Both support jailbroken installations of iOS 8 through 14, and the tweak is open source on the developer’s GitHub page.

If you’re not already using opa334’s personal repository, then you can add it to your package manager app of choice by using the URL provided below:

How Do You Change Font In Windows 11?

In today’s world, everybody wants a customizable operating system. Hence, Microsoft has also allowed its users to change the font in Windows 11.

Undoubtedly, you’re bored using the same font in Windows. Or, you probably want to have a unique interface of your own.

Thus, in this article, we have explained the easiest way of changing the font style, color, and size in Windows 11.

How Can I Change the Font Style in Windows 11?

There’s no direct method to change the font style in Windows 11. So, this will be a bit tricky if you’ve never tried customizing it.

Nonetheless, we have brought a simple guide that will assist you in changing your font in Windows 11.

Pick Your Font

The initial step is to choose a font. Well, you can pick your desired style within the computer settings. So, here’s the first method of selecting a font via the Control Panel.:

Visit Control Panel on your PC.

Another technique of picking a font in Windows 11 is via Windows Settings. These simple steps will help you choose the style you prefer:

Next, navigate to Metadata and memorize the full name. Here, you can also choose a font face to check its metadata.

If you didn’t find the style you’re looking for, Microsoft gives you an option to install fonts from their Microsoft Store. Moreover, you can even download fonts for all the languages. However, this will take up a large space on your drive.

Well, if you’re looking for a detailed guide on installing fonts on Windows 11, you can read our other article.

Create a .reg File

Just by picking a font, we can’t make any changes in the system. So, the next step is to create a .rig file that will update the font registry.

Although this sounds a bit technical, anyone can create a .rig file within a minute by following these general steps:

From the Start menu, open Notepad.

Now, paste the following code in the text area:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFonts] "Segoe UI (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"="" "Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)"="" HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFontSubstitutes] "Segoe UI"="Name of the font you selected"

Make Changes to the Registry

After saving the document, you have successfully created a program to change the font of Windows 11. However, this will work only after merging the content in the registry.

Go through the guide below to learn how to make changes to the registry:

Open the saved document you just created.

Now, refresh your PC and check if the font has changed. If it hasn’t, restart your PC, and your font should get updated.

How Do I Reset My Font Style to Default in Windows 11?

Well, you’re probably done playing with different fonts in Windows 11. If you want to return to your old settings, here are some techniques that might help you.

Restore Default Font Settings From Control Panel

Restoring default font settings will bring back all the previous settings on your computer. So, this method might help you reset the font style to default.

You need to follow these steps to restore default font settings on your PC:

First of all, launch Control Panel from the Start menu.

Then, wait for a few moments and refresh your computer.

Finally, check if your old font is back. If it hasn’t, try restarting your PC and checking it again.

Several users have faced problems trying this technique. So, let’s jump into another method of restoring your font style to default.

Create a Default .reg File

Like you created a .reg File, we need to create another Notepad document here. Following is the source code you need to copy to make changes in your font settings:

Open Notepad and paste the code above.

Save the file with any name and add a .reg extension.

Close the Notepad window and launch the .reg item.

Now, try refreshing and restarting your PC. This should bring back your old font.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFonts] "Segoe UI (TrueType)"="segoeui.ttf" "Segoe UI Black (TrueType)"="seguibl.ttf" "Segoe UI Black Italic (TrueType)"="seguibli.ttf" "Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"="segoeuib.ttf" "Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"="segoeuiz.ttf" "Segoe UI Emoji (TrueType)"="seguiemj.ttf" "Segoe UI Historic (TrueType)"="seguihis.ttf" "Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"="segoeuii.ttf" "Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"="segoeuil.ttf" "Segoe UI Light Italic (TrueType)"="seguili.ttf" "Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"="seguisb.ttf" "Segoe UI Semibold Italic (TrueType)"="seguisbi.ttf" "Segoe UI Semilight (TrueType)"="segoeuisl.ttf" "Segoe UI Semilight Italic (TrueType)"="seguisli.ttf" "Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)"="seguisym.ttf" "Segoe MDL2 Assets (TrueType)"="segmdl2.ttf" "Segoe Print (TrueType)"="segoepr.ttf" "Segoe Print Bold (TrueType)"="segoeprb.ttf" "Segoe Script (TrueType)"="segoesc.ttf" "Segoe Script Bold (TrueType)"="segoescb.ttf" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionFontSubstitutes] "Segoe UI"=- Create a Manual .reg File

However, for some reason, few computers have a different default font than others. In such a case, you need to know the custom default font used on your PC.

How Can You Change Font Size in Windows 11?

It becomes difficult to focus on the screen if your interface has a small font size. So, increasing the font helps to make Windows content look more readable.

Furthermore, people suffering from short-sightedness and long-sightedness always face vision issues. Therefore, Windows has made a feature available to customize the font size from its settings.

Read and apply these steps to change the font size in Windows 11:

Open Settings and navigate to Accessibility.

Now, increase the font size by dragging the slider to the right. If you wish to decrease font size, drag it to the left. And, if you want the default setting, set the text size to 100%.

Now, wait about a minute for the settings to change.

If you also have a mac and want to change it’s fonts size, read this article.

How to Change Font Color in Windows 11

Very few know that changing font color is possible in Windows 11. To learn more, follow these basic steps:

Now, select one of the themes provided in the drop-down.

Input the hex code or select a color from the palette.

Now, wait a few seconds for the system to change the font color on your screen.

Update the detailed information about Ryan Petrich’s Treadmill Tweak Logs How Much Scrolling You Do on the website. We hope the article's content will meet your needs, and we will regularly update the information to provide you with the fastest and most accurate information. Have a great day!
